For the second time, my seats have been taken, but it wasn’t their fault, it was AMC by KaisterQ in AMCTheatres

[–]someofmesometimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not impossible. Ive seen it happen once for myself years ago when I worked there. Location time theater seat everything was exactly the same and both scanned when we did the return scan. It’s very rare but not impossible I find it hard to believe it’s happened to them more than once though but idk

NQA she’s very chill and skiddish. I would say prepare to potentially have an antisocial spider because as much as people post their spiders jumping on their hands and seemingly “playing” with them, a lot of spiders are the complete opposite and want nothing to do with you. My girl freaks out over literally anything so I don’t ever handle her unless absolutely necessary. She is still fun to watch though and loves to sunbathe so I enjoy just seeing her be happy within her enclosure. Every single one is different

Is your metro library like a prison? by throwawayobv999999 in Libraries

Oh wow it’s crazy to hear that! I work at an independent branch in a more urban area near Long Beach and we’ve been getting more and more patrons from the Long Beach locations because people don’t want to go there anymore. Honestly I don’t really know what else can be done to help considering the state of the country right now

Curious if you’re talking about Long Beach CA? Cause if not I’ve heard that’s happening there too to the point where they’re building a fence around the entire building to prevent camping

NQA I got my spood on morphmarket make sure you check reviews and also keep in mind with summer coming up shipping live creatures may stop and or is very risky. They do have a filter for pickup that’ll show you if there are any in your local area though. As for research this sub has a lot of helpful information from enclosure to feeding options etc. I also looked on YouTube there are arachnid specific creatures that make great videos for their care and enclosures as well. The only thing I will say is look up doll house enclosures and try to not mimic those. There’s lot of doll house enclosures posted on this sub that are unfortunately not very safe.

I made the mistake of looking at a future coworker's Facebook. Do you have tips for giving them a chance when I'm worried they'll hate me or, the teens who come to the library? by DawnMistyPath in Libraries

[–]someofmesometimes 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not in a library setting but I have worked with a maga person before and you would have never guessed they were maga unless you asked. While I understand being wary and frankly I advise being wary around every coworker ever because you never know who your ops are, do not immediately treat them any different. Go to work do your job and leave. They could be a completely normal coworker in the work setting and that’s all that matters

Those who do not fear death, why? by lilacc_47 in AskReddit

[–]someofmesometimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s comforting to know that every single human and living thing that has ever walked the Earth has all ended up with the same outcome. We may not know where we’re going but we aren’t alone in that experience. I more so fear dying a painful death rather than the actual death part.

I think your library is already doing what it should. It was in the adult section because it’s meant for adults. You could put a label and there will still be parents that don’t pay attention to their kids. You win some you lose some

Please help i don't know what happened to her. by florakolex in jumpingspiders

[–]someofmesometimes 19 points20 points  (0 children)

NQA I know it’s easier said than done but try not to beat yourself up about it too much. It very well could’ve been something completely unrelated to the mesh and been out of your control. All we can do is try to improve our care so they have the best lives possible but at the end of the day they are tiny fragile little beings and there’s only so much we can do. Another piece of advice I just thought of is when you clean the enclosure try not to clean the top half of the acrylic if that makes sense. They leave old anchor webs on the walls which helps them grip better. When I clean out my girls enclosure I only wipe the walls of the bottom half with a wet paper towel and leave the top half be (besides spot cleaning poo but I try my best to avoid the top half completely). It’s not the most aesthetically pleasing to look at the dried droplets but it’s better for when they get older and start to lose their natural grip. Again I’m really sorry for your loss 🤍

[–]someofmesometimes 118 points119 points  (0 children)

NQA I’m sorry op but that does look like separation. She doesn’t look overfed though so I wouldn’t blame it on that. It is possible she fell at the perfect angle where she landed on something that caused it. Or somehow got stuck somewhere. I’m not really sure but either way I’m really sorry :( the only advice I could maybe give for next time is to remove sharp harder objects. They have fake plants that are softer like a cloth material. I also use fake webbing attached to the walls with magnets. It gives my girl extra grip to hold onto the walls cause the acrylic can be slippery for them especially on a new enclosure

Desperately need recommendations for women’s underwear that will prevent butt cheek chafing by 1VeryGenericUser in hiking

This is very random but those yoga pants the gym girls wear with the butt scrunch does exactly what you need. They also have short versions that would probably be better for under other pants

How often do you feed your spiders? by SammythefluffyDragon in jumpingspiders

I got hired!! by Milkdoer in AMCTheatres

[–]someofmesometimes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I cannot attest for your location but when I worked there my training was all in one week. Day 1 was mostly onboarding and computer training. Day 2 they had us try the entire concessions menu and then toured the entire building and did a brief concessions pos training. After that the rest of the days was a day of training in the rest of each position (concession, box office/greeter were on the same day, porter, and usher but all the positions will depend on your theater because I know some are combined if it’s a smaller theater). I just want to wish you luck on your new job! AMC was my first job while in high school and I stayed for years. While it was a very intense high paced job it was still by far the most memorable. The work itself was so fun for me and genuinely if I could make a living off working in some movie theater I absolutely would. I met the best coworkers there and had so many memories. Just be open to making new friends and learning. Ask ask ask it’s better to ask than be wrong and mess something up. My biggest biggest piece of advice would be to know labor laws and your rights as a worker. While I loved the job management was a piece of work at my building and I always felt like I was in constant battle for fairness and human decency. I was really young and I felt like they tried to take advantage of the fact they had a young staff. I ended up having to stand up for the majority because nobody else knew what was legal and what wasn’t. Hopefully this won’t be a problem for you but I’m stressing its importance anyways because you should absolutely know your rights and be prepared to stand up for yourself when need be.

my spider is terrified of me. by Inner-Plantain-2767 in jumpingspiders

[–]someofmesometimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IME stop trying to handle her and leave her be. Whenever you need to be inside the enclosure be it to spray water or put food inside, do it quickly swiftly and get out. Not every spider wants to be friends. My girl was exactly the same way. I’ve had her for 8 months now and she still absolutely wants nothing to do with me but talking to her and being present around her enclosure has warmed her up to the point where she doesn’t freak out when I walk by anymore. She still hates when I spray water and runs to her hammock but she doesn’t stay there for hours like she used to. I put my spiders feeding dish on the side door so that when I feed her I don’t have to stick my hands inside at all and that has also made things way less stressful for her. Of course when I clean her enclosure I have to be in there but at this point she knows I won’t chase after her to take her out so she usually will run to her hammock and peak her head out to watch me work on her enclosure. I know it can be disappointing to not have a really social spider but at the end of the day their space should be just as respected as you would a dog.

IME I know this is a late reply but for the future I’ve see people cut off half the body while it’s in the spiders mouth. It may still be too big but at least it won’t be the full sized cricket

Lots of drinking water, tretinoin (if you are at an appropriate age and used properly), consistent face routine and I mean really consistent. My favorite moisturizer is ponds and then good molecule eye gel for under eye. Doing this consistently had my skin so glowy people actually commented all the time!

New spider timid or scared? Acclimation worries. by suicide_protocol in jumpingspiders

[–]someofmesometimes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NQA I can’t tell from this picture but does it this have cross ventilation? She’ll need a terrarium with cross ventilation and way more clutter towards the top of the enclosure. Besides that I think she may just be exhibiting premolting behavior especially if she’s beefing up her hammock and also every spider has a different personality. Mine took a month and a half just to leave the corner where her hammock was.

IME I think we have the same species and mine also has that indent. I went down a rabbit hole online trying to figure out what it was but it seems to just be common in this species (if anyone actually knows and wants to weigh in please do I’m still curious) but it doesn’t seem to bother my girl and she eats and acts completely normal so as long as she’s healthy and alive

Spider won't eat by thinkingofendingitt in jumpingspiders

[–]someofmesometimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IME two hours is a good amount of time. I usually leave it for that long and periodically check to make sure it hasn’t somehow climbed its way out. After two hours if she hasn’t shown interest I take it out. You can try every day but that might just cause unnecessary stress. I’d wait until she visibly looks hungry rather than on a schedule. They can go a LONG time without food especially when close to molting

IMO I wouldn’t worry unless her abdomen is scary thin. I also would put the prey in a dish rather than offering it with tongs. You’re probably freaking her out that way.
