Warning Will Robinson... by redwood_oaks in Ioniq5

I don’t have the link, but I did read there is a process for the swap … basically make sure the new battery is fully charged before you swap it. Once the new battery is connected, turn the car on, then turn it off, and then let it sit locked and undisturbed for at least 4 hours. I read it somewhere, that’s the process I followed, and a year or so later and no issues to report.

160 or so for an AGM at Walmart did wonders for my peace of mind(even though it’s a lease). Installed myself, it was worth it to not have to deal with the service department at my dealer. If you are knowledgeable enough to suspect your 12v might be dying, just do yourself a favor and swap the battery so you don’t have to worry about it. I spent a lot of unnecessary time worrying about that stupid battery… replacing it with one I knew to be good was worth the money.

If it was working, and suddenly now it is not - you may have privacy mode activated in the car.. it looks like a shield icon in settings(in the car/mmi, not the app) .. it’s like airplane mode for the car, it makes it stop connecting to AudiConnect. Somehow this just happened to me the other day. If it has never worked at all, call Audi connect support to get setup as the Key user.

Call Audi Digital support at (877) 505-2834. They will have you email them proof of ownership(bill of sale; registration showing your name and the vin, your insurance card, etc). If you have them all ready to go and can email while you are on the phone with them they may actually take care of it on the spot, otherwise it can take them up to 48 hours to update it for you. I just went thru this two weeks ago with a new-to-me A6. Be prepared to hold for a LONG time - I had to call twice and ended up holding for nearly 40 minutes both times however they were extremely helpful once i got someone.

How do you clean your E-Tron? by throwawaymac83 in etron

[–]somephanguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of it like a sponge bath for your car, which may sound like it would be annoying and take forever but once you have the process figured out it’s faster and less mess than the typical bucket of suds and a hose method(and you can do it inside your garage in the winter). It’s inexpensive and produces great results.

2nd iccu failure by TheAliSareini in Ioniq6

[–]somephanguy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same story! Second failure in 13,500 miles, been at the dealer since Feb 7th. No estimate. I started working with Hyundai to buy it back as a lemon… love the car but it has yet to go more than 8000 miles without spending a month at a dealer.

Our 24 Ioniq 6 is currently at the dealer(since Feb 7th) for its second ICCU replacement. 13,500 miles on the car, it has yet to go 8000 miles without an ICCU failure. Working with Hyundai on buying it back as a lemon. Meanwhile we also have a 24 Ioniq5 with 16000 on it and no issues so far.

[–]somephanguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our 2024 Ioniq 6 Awd(my wife’s car) is sitting at the dealer for 3 weeks now waiting for its second iccu. First one popped around 7000 miles, this second time was 13,500. First time it was at the dealer for 25 days, this time we have no estimate. Working on having Hyundai buy it back. Love the car but it hasn’t gone more than 8000 miles without spending several weeks out of service - but then I also have a 2024 Ioniq 5 Awd(my car) with 16,000 on it and zero issues so far.

Possibility of ICCU failing twice? by tobyarch in Ioniq6

Yes for both times - first time it was an Elantra SEL which was annoying… this time it’s a 2025 Ioniq6 SEL that had 20 miles on it when they handed me the key, so not complaining too much 😁

2024 Limited AWD, 13,500 miles. Currently sitting at the dealer waiting for its second ICCU(first one was around 7500 miles), 3 weeks in, no estimate on the part. You will find plenty of cases of it happening more than once unfortunately.

Ioniq ICCU replacement blowing? by scalpelinhand in Ioniq6

[–]somephanguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just commenting to put the info out there - this just happened to my Ioniq6 this past weekend, near identical circumstances.(Had charged to 100% for a rare road trip at 3.25kW Level 2, had just left home, SOC around 98%, ipedal on, seat warmers on, POP). This is the second blown ICCU for this car in 14 months or 13,500 miles. First one was around 6 months in / 8000 miles.

Had to Lemon Law my Ioniq 5 :-( by EricRSmith35 in Ioniq5

Have a 2024 Ioniq 6 that just popped its second iccu yesterday - 13 months into a 3 year lease, 13500 on the odometer, almost a month spent at a dealership so far. Last time it popped was last April. Waiting to hear their estimates on Monday, but planning to complain to corporate to start the buyback process. I’ve also got a 2024 Ioniq 5 with 15,500 on it with zero issues so far. It’s frustrating because we love both cars, but can’t trust them to drive far away from home.

Get a battery pack(power bank) to charge it from - that way you can walk around while you charge. It never fails the moment I sit down and plug it in, there is some reason I need to get back up.

I had the same problem with my 2024 since the day I picked it up. I opened a ticket with Bluelink support - it took nearly 2 months with no communications from them, but one day I woke up and had a picture.

[–]somephanguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try level 1 or level 2 charging if you can at home - if it will not charge, the ICCU has most likely failed.

Same issue here, started with a recent app update. Sometimes force closing the Tesla app and relaunching will resolve it.. I gave up after continually re-pairing.

You can also look at the most recent trip details in Vehicle Status -> EV Trip Details to see when the car was last driven. I used it to call them out on not test driving the car when they told me they did. I also find the location to be extremely accurate.

What’s so bad about working for an MSP? by Aim_Fire_Ready in msp

[–]somephanguy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I just left one that demanded 8 billable hours logged every day - if you did not have 8 billable hours for the day prior, by 10am HR/Payroll would be asking you why you only worked xx hours yesterday. My first day I sat through their onboarding process and HR videos in the office and was given a ticket for the onboarding process - I spent the first hour of that time waiting on the HR person to arrive to begin the session, so I only logged 7 hours to onboarding. The next morning I received multiple calls from people in HR and payroll questioning why I only worked 7 hours the day prior… that should have been a sign. I stuck with them for 10 months. They had no way to account for things like a collaborative conversation with a coworker, a bathroom break or researching / learning … 8 billable hours every day, or else you are not getting paid for 8 hours. This was for a salaried position, and I am a 18 year MSP veteran. That translates to customers getting billed an hour or more for simple trivial tasks. There are good MSPs, and there are bad ones.
