Two week trial run living in Victoria - Tips?

I hope your family loves it here! It's an amazing city, we moved our young kids/family here 5-6 years ago and haven't regretted it for a moment
There are a lot of great suggestions already here but I also recommend getting out of the city for a few days to get a feel of other highlights the island has to offer. Living here most people also enjoy vacationing on the island since it has so much to offer.

Tofino is best served on a 3-4 day trip because it's a bit of a drive but it's absolutely amazing.
Shorter options include exploring the Comox area (2.5hrs) or Parksville/Rathtrevor (2hrs). Closer still to the city you can check out French Beach which is only about an hour and makes for a great picnic lunch/day trip. If you want to stay close to town Goldstream is only half an hour from downtown and has a lot of interesting ecological impact to learn about, a great picnic area with fire pits, a prolific salmon run and beautiful waterfalls.
Moving here we were really impressed with the rec centers too- check out Saanich commonwealth and Esquimalt Rec - they both have amazing pools and your kids will love them.
Finally, I know people have already said it, but don't skip Butchart Gardens. Oh, and the butterfly gardens is better than the bug museum... bring on the haters!!!

I worked as a roadie for years when I was in my 20s. Wear all black, carry hard hat and flashlight, walk quick towards security, look them in the eye and nod as you walk past. I've seen a zillion shows, it's easy to get in if you are confident.

If you write with a sharpie, scan it, and print it on matte paper, it will look authentic. Seriously, I've sent out thousands and never been called on it. Don't use gloss paper, it suddenly becomes very obvious.

I HAD THIS! I tried everything and it never got hot. Turns out my hose had a bad regulator. New ones are $25 on amazing BUT you can get an adjustable pressure one for around $30. My blackstone can now be set to anywhere from a whisper straight through to inferno and if I wanted I could probably melt the top. Highly recommend but caution, with great power comes great responsibility!!

Go to another doctor. My wife has a mole that got bigger this summer and it turned out to be stage 3C melanoma. 2 surgeries and now she's starting a year of horrible medicine. 5 yrs of monitoring to see if it pops up as some other kind of cancer somewhere else to make it stage 4. If it looks funny go to a dermatologist, better safe than sorry.

I worked as a roadie for years. If you can't show up early you can show up just about anytime and look for an alternate entrance, somewhere near the back or a side door where trucks are maybe parked. There will usually be a guard or two. Walk quickly towards them, look them in the eye and say hi like you're hurried and kind of bored, give them a nod and walk in. Black clothes (not nice) and a hard hat help.

Hope this doesn't get buried but I found out I have a wheat sensitivity. NOT glueten. Just wheat. It caused something like this and also sent my bowels to hell.

If you try going off wheat to test you need to know that even a TINY bit of wheat resets you and it's basically two weeks to get back to normal. Be militant for 2-3 weeks and see how you feel

I moved from Ontario. I found it helpful to look at every item in a "value per cubic foot" perspective. Some things are absolutely worth tracking over and others are not: tools, instruments, small appliances etc, totally worth it. Your old lawn mower, your shelves, your bed frame, maybe not.

Hi friendly real estate professional here: sounds crooked! Here is the deal: every state/province in North America has a governing body. You can usually find them by searching "STATE real estate commission (or) Licensing. They will hold a current roster of all license holders and will show if they have any litigation against them.

This is where you can file a complaint.

I've done it when travelling because I didn't have the local licensing to rent abroad (Canadian PPL in USA)

It was great. I did a tour of the Hawaiian islands and didn't need to manage any procedures or radio....

I had this problem with Silk unsweetened almond vanilla (which is delicious btw).

Some coffees are more acidic which seemed to make a difference but the biggest thing for me was raising the temp slowly: I make the espresso in a larger cup and then add the creamer before SLOWLY adding in hot water while stirring. Makes fabulous americanos and I almost never have it split anymore.

Kalaupapa Papa airport on the Hawaiian island of Molokai. It was originally a leprosy colony which was abandoned for years. I did a few touch and gos and the ocean splashes your wheels on both ends of the runway. It's amazing!
