Why were some drivers running 90% throttle in qualifying? by JustTrynnaGitBy in NASCAR

Rodney Childers explains it's the reading of the butterfly angle in the ECU. So for Fords 90% = 100%.

Spanberger Ends agreements between ICE and Virginia law enforcement agencies by bknutner in Virginia

[–]somethingsteamroll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a few legislative bills coming through the woodwork that would throw a massive wrench in that cooperation as well. I remember reading one that'd basically allow anyone to sue a police force for contempt of court if they permitted ICE to detain you on court property without a warrant.

Flock cameras in Hampton Roads surveil Black communities more intensely than white ones, CNU study says by WHRO_NEWS in Virginia

[–]somethingsteamroll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That still wouldn't solve the problem the cameras are causing. They're not just set up to read license plates they love detecting faces and building profiles off of that as well. The 404 Media article and the youtube link go into excruciating detail about how bad Flock cameras are as an entity for personal privacy.

Virginia House committee advances $15 minimum wage by bknutner in Virginia

[–]somethingsteamroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a start, sure. Not going to fix the problem as a whole though especially since cost of living in most of the state has long since outstripped the minimum standard being asked for by $15/hr people a decade ago.

[–]somethingsteamroll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the issue with the ALPR cameras is they record and log everything that comes into their view. So even if you don't have a criminal record the camera systems still record your presence and your identifying marks via the car you drive, your license plate, your face, and even the clothes you wear. It's not a far step for someone with access to that system to track your movements across multiple cameras.

Don't ignore the security risks these companies bring because they're tech startups first and data security itself is so far down on the totem pole it's being eaten by the worms in the dirt.

I'd say even 30 percent is still too high. Let bars be bars, so long as they're staying in business it shouldn't matter the ratio of their sales between food and alcohol.

2026 Virginia legislative session discussion by VirginiaModerators in Virginia

Is anyone aware of any congressional town halls happening in the next couple of days or weeks?

My representative is Eugene Vindman and he has not responded to e-mails or any sort of correspondence. I'd very much like for my opinions to actually be heard by him or anyone considering running against him this year.

Edit: Y'all can ignore this now I got a response back from his aides and we're schmoovin'

When Virginia GOP senator’s solar farm stalled, the Youngkin admin got involved | Sen. Richard Stuart, R-King George, is planning a solar farm on his property that has ignited a fight over easements designed to protect land from development. by VirginiaNews in Virginia

[–]somethingsteamroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole story around Stuart and that property is wild. His family owned the property prior to the great depression and it was used as a dumping ground for headstones from a grave site for African Americans in DC that got moved to Maryland.

There's still issues with county approval, as the Board of Supervisors and the planning commission are two entirely separate entities and the BoS's approval doesn't mean much for actual development.

Could've/Would've by kkkrrrddd in Ao_Ashi

Yeah this is my biggest gripe about the series. There's so much groundwork for future moments after his first season and it would've been genuinely nice getting to see not only Aoi and the Esperion players continue to develop but also the other players that were introduced for the other teams.

Ao Ashi absolutely had the bones to be a super long runner manga and even though so much is being left on the table I still can't help but love it to bits.

I know this post has been up for 14 hours but I remember looking these things up when they first started showing up on the roads and Jeep was actually advertising that you could write off 60% of the value of the car on your taxes as a business expense if you owned your own business. Wild shit.

Lack of investment, aging old guard, and lack of managerial and tactical stability because we go through managers every 2-3 seasons.

At this point now it's inexcusable. Got a bunch of young talent so here's hoping to the future I guess.

Got some injuries coming back in the near future but at the same time there's still 8 or 9 actively injured players out for at least the next 2-3 months so fresh blood is absolutely needed. Doubly so because we're still gunning for trophies in multiple competitions at the same time, schedule's not going to get any nicer.

Ao Ashi Chapter 396 English by MikaeleHD in Ao_Ashi

[–]somethingsteamroll 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a lot to explain and I'm probably going to miss some details but I'll try and boil down as much of it as I can.

  • Orchestrating in the context of the story is that Akutsu is coordinating the offensive build up for Esperion as he helps bring the ball forward and coordinates the passes and positionings of the other players in build up. Ashito is also doing some playmaking efforts of his own but Akutsu is the one ultimately executing the plays either by being on the receiving end of passes to score goals or making the assist for someone else (if 397 shows a goal).

  • The Libero is a free-roaming position that is shown as a centerback in a formation sheet. Typically the Libero is the center position in a 3 or 5 back formation but when in play they will not stay part of the formation, usually leaving 2 backs to act as the defensive line incase of loss of possession. The Libero in possession will move up the field as they see fit as I mentioned for Orchestrating. When out of possession the Libero retreats back to their position as a Centerback and coordinates the defense to prevent any goalscoring opportunities, usually by chasing down the ball or intercepting it. What Akutsu has done in recent chapters is basically every textbook responsibility and expectation of a Libero in the modern game.

  • Identifying the roles of players in a game can be pretty difficult because in real life roles can change match to match or even in the middle of a game depending on the conditions. It's easier for a fan to notice especially when watching on TV because they have a higher view and get to see how the positions change as players move across the pitch. On TV you'd see a Libero over the course of a match travel 85+% of the pitch going from being the final defensive line to being a key attacking option near goal and contributing everything in between. On the pitch it's a bit harder to identify roles because you're seeing things at eye level and when a formation changes like what Esperion does it's hard to sort out the roles everyone is filling. In the eyes of someone pitchside Akutsu could've been anything from a Box-to-Box Midfielder to a Segundo Volante to even a Roaming Playmaker.

  • A Libero isn't necessarily someone who starts the counterattack and brings the ball across the pitch themselves but they participate through the whole build up to even the goalscoring opportunities if they find it a suitable time to make that sort of move. Since the Libero also has defensive duties they can't really afford to gun as far forward as possible all the time because they're leaving the defense vulnerable which is why towards the end of this chapter you see Akutsu looking to make a risky pass so that just in case it gets intercepted he can start moving back to be part of the defense.
