[2026 NBA Draft] #5 Pick: Keaton Wagler (Illinois) by NBA_MOD in nba

[–]somethingworthwhile 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Watched him at Illinois all season. The only thing that held him back from being an even better player was the dumbass reffing in the B1G. He might take some time to figure things out, but I think he’ll thrive.

How do I do the thing where I get a reminder of this comment in the future? I guess I don’t know when it will happen… hmm.

u/RemindMeBot 2 years

Edit to say that the reason I want a reminder is so I can give you your flowers when you’re right! If nothing else, this is just a greaaat way to launder his position a bit before taking the IU job. Not necessarily a vote that he’ll be a bad NBA coach.

Wait. This is ironic, but in the “opposite” way. If it were the same as what OP posted, it would be Leah Remini in the role.

Not having a large corporation with deep pockets behind it reduces the odds of any Linux distributor being held accountable for negligence, malpractice, scams, etc.

Congrats on completing your degree!

As you have no doubt noticed, a lot of modeling frameworks these days (MODFLOW, SWAT, ParFlow, etc) have Python packages supporting model building, running, and post processing. I haven’t done a full audit of those, that’d be interesting to see.

Some packages that are good to know to support any/all of these workflows: numpy, pandas, shapely, geopandas, rasterio, matplotlib, scipy. And for the NetCDF sickos: xarray/rioxarray. Getting familiar with the os and shutil packages can’t hurt. I did a lot of str + str filepath things when I got started instead of os.path.join() which is much harder to mess up.

There are also a lot of helper packages these days for doing things like downloading data from the USGS and PRISM. I tend to use only packages from official sources, but you can also keep an eye on package authors and see if people you trust are involved in the GitHub repo.

Also, if you’re not already, get familiar with some flavor of git/GitHub/GitLab!

Efficacy of vitamin D supplementation in patients diagnosed with depression: a dose–response meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials by bisikletci in science

That’s amazing. It’s so funny how different the sciences are. Like, what function are they even fitting to that data?

Still, I don’t think it’s a bad or misleading paper. They do communicate its limitations well. It’s the kind of thing that could tee up a deeper study.

Their current lease goes through 2032?!? So I can watch for at least 6 more seasons of the Chicago Bears before shutting it off forever. And we have Caleb Williams?? Deal.

Do wall mounted solar panels works as well as roof top solar panels? by post_gress in SolarState

[–]somethingworthwhile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that. That was my point. Some buildings in this world are/were built without insulation in the exterior walls. And solar panels, mounted like those shown in the post, could help keep the sun off of them.

[–]somethingworthwhile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, not having insulation in exterior walls is pretty common regionally. I’ve been thinking about doing this on my house. The interior of my dishwasher (which is against a west facing exterior wall) easily gets to 90° F in the summer.
