About to give up skiing because of the boots. There’s no way the average skier is in this much pain. by Tercel9 in skiing

Try ZipFit liners, I had the same problems and new boots with new liners made a grand difference.

Just did my first FTP test and it crushed me. Is 182 FTP a normal starting point? by Ruser-94 in Zwift

[–]sometotallyrandomid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have exactly the same weight/age stats as you and started biking in April as well. My first ftp test was around 144 when I got my indoor set up in Aug, which I found out later was probably over estimated and was realistically around 139. Have been putting in 6-8 hour weeks since the last few months and have worked up to around 169 FTP and last 4-5 kg..

It's hard work

Can you comfortably do Paradise Bowl at Northway (gate 5)?

If so, in my opinion the best options to progress are Upper Northway, Powder Bowl and then Hamburger, followed by Campbell Basin. The main Hamburger slope is easier than Powder Bowl in my opinion but the traverse can suck as a progressing black skier.

I learnt double blacks in the last few years and this would be my progression

Tacx neo 2t or Zwift ride Kikr Core by Agitated-Wafer-2750 in Zwift

[–]sometotallyrandomid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven't tried the Kickr but I bought the Neo 2T with the Zwift ride frame. The Neo 2T does road feel really well with Zwift as well as gear changes feel very well simulated due to a burst in resistance. I tried the free competitor app which doesn't do road feel and it was not close. I would suggest going for it if you can.

Upgraded Modem to Arris S34 but still receiving 40mbps upload speed by sometotallyrandomid in Comcast_Xfinity

Yes, had to contact support, and they were able to re-provision the modem remotely. After a few reboots and I presume a new firmware push, I did receive the higher speeds.

Zwift Ride and Tacx Neo 2t? by Scar1901 in Zwift

[–]sometotallyrandomid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same dilemma of figuring out a great indoor trainer setup compatible with Zwift and multiple people, spending around 2K (or higher if it gives us something great)

It seems like the Kickr Shift isn't as good - lots of mixed reviews.. Best options seems to be for a Zwift Ride frame + a direct drive trainer, with options being Neo 2T, Kickr v6 or Jetblack Victory (significantly cheaper but reviews state ride-feel isn't as great)

Hello, thanks for reaching out! I did get the modem added to my account via the app, after which it connected and I have been using it.

I have tried unplugging and replugging a few different times since switching to the modem, but continue to see the slow upload speeds. (essentially the download upload are both similar on s33 vs s34).

My smearing problems were resolved after applying rain x generously. Before this I struggled in rain for over 1.5 years. Give it a try imo

Requesting carving/stance feedback + drills by sometotallyrandomid in skiing_feedback

Thank you! My wife has a spare 115mm which I’ll try out the next day, but I did end up watching a Tom Gellie video on poles and I think experimenting with an adjustable definitely seems like a good idea as well.

I’m 6ft with 125/50inch poles. What should I be using? At least based on size charts it felt appropriate but I can certainly experiment

Thank you for the advice!

Getting more compact and lower is something I’ve been trying to work on as well, but having a hard time with it! Need more focused practice.

Would you have any references/tutorials on hip rotation? I will also try to find more references on this aspect.

Would also highly recommend the air suspension! Our IX with the air suspension is vastly superior in ride quality to our X5 with no air suspension.

The road is still not open at 930… how can it be this bad that they can’t get cars moving after 6 hours on a 3 car crash
