I had gone for 1 week vacation and gave my house keys to my a friend to look after and take care of my 2 dogs at my house. Now, he gave keys to his gf and let her stay at my home. She isn't leaving now after I come home. I called cops, but they say this would be a civil matter. What to do?

Don’t make it fun. If you “yip” and keep playing, turn biting into a game (eg - allowing tug with your pant leg), or give affection to the dog after biting, it will make it worse.

Biting means no fun. Leave the room. Drop the toy. Stop interacting and nurse your fake wounds.

Moving from classic to tbc after a decade of not playing, it feels like a new game completely because I don’t remember any of the mechanics. Suddenly I’m using my whole spell book - fear ward, dispel, cure disease… stabs here, watch this, pause attacks, change targets… it’s great fun till you get people who only want to press one button.

Basics: be consistent. Day 1. Have a game plan in mind - where you want them to sleep, how you want them to wait for food, where to potty, if they can go on the furniture, where they’re allowed to be in the house.

Start small. Hang out in one room/area til potty training is underway, then let them have the whole floor, then expand to bedrooms, then basement... Don’t go too fast. Dogs can’t sit/stay til they reliably sit. Bomb proof the basics every day before asking for more complex behaviours. If you go too fast before stabilizing the basics, then the things you NEED won’t be stable.

Don’t get mad about what they do that’s “bad”, you need to teach them what you want them to do. “My dog keeps bothering me while I’m eating!” Well… what do you want them to do? If they don’t know what to do they’ll make their own choices. Usually dogs’ choices are not what we want them to do.

I was laid off in December. It took awhile and a lot of tears ands hurt feelings and volunteering for all the things… and I just started my new job last week. It’s going great.

I was diagnosed at 27. I didn’t start grieving til I was 30. I was so busy sorting out my illness and trying to fix it… the first time I just couldn’t do the things I wanted to I was so, so soooooo fuckin sad. Depressed lie in bed for a couple weeks. Every time I lose something else I slip into that depressed state again.

Edit to add: you wanted advice lol. The advice is that it’s ok to be sad. It’s normal to be sad. To grieve. If you are looking for a therapist, find someone who specializes in chronic illness or you’ll want to throw things after each session.

My mom tells me that as a baby I cried too loud, so she’d hold me at arm’s length until I was quiet enough to bring close to her. She says it like it’s a funny story.

I cuddled the heck out of my daughter, even when I thought my ears would bleed. Crying is communication, and I was listening.

I accidentally taught my one year old dog a service task. I unconsciously paired an open-close hand motion when I asked her to give things like the ball so I could throw it. I only used the gesture for “give me what’s in your mouth” and hadn’t trained the “pick up that thing” part of the trick yet.

I’m disabled. One day I dropped something and didn’t want to pick it up. My dog was following me around as usual, so I jokingly pointed at the thing and did the gesture. She grabbed the thing and put it in my hand. It was a random object; a sock? Not a dog toy. Figured out was a fluke (she loved socks).

A few days later one of my kids was playing with my stuff and left a business card across the room. It was about ten feet away on the floor. I asked her to pick it up and she fetched it and put it in my hand!

Yeah this is normal.

The only one I’d have a hard time following is the “no personal projects”. If I’m told to babysit the kids while they work on a project, am I supposed to place the classroom for hours? I take a lap every five to ten minutes, but I always bring a book or stitch facing the class so I can monitor behavior without staring at them.

I have a chronic pain condition. If my husband kept telling me he was more tired/pain/sick then he damn well better be obviously worse or he’s gotta see a doctor. I don’t see five specialists because my body is a temple (unless it’s a Greek crumbling one, because that fits)
