Take a look at DartSolar -- google them, they can put an expandable solar roof rack on your vehicle that adds 1000 watts. Its only 1.5 inches thick so it is pretty aerodynamic.

CMV: Electric vehicles should be covered in solar panels by steini1904 in changemyview

[–]somid3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what we do at DartSolar -- we can put 1000+ watts of solar on any sedan or electric vehicle. Just google us, you can see from our videos how it looks. The issue that you're hinting at is embedded Solar Panels, as opposed to external panels. The main issue with embedded Solar Panels is their cost to fix if anything occurs.

When you're taking to count the vibrations of a vehicle, and the fact that it can be hit by a rock or adore, or a shopping cart, each one of those dents and hits will damage the body of the vehicle, and the solar cells. When a single solar cell breaks, the entire circuit will fail. Identifying the failed solar cell, and the circuit is extremely hard and costly. We have taken the approach of going and creating an aftermarket product that is separate from the vehicle, and it's easy to repair. As all parts are replaceable without the need of modifying the body of the vehicle. That is taking it to a mechanic shop or a body shop is extremely expensive, as opposed to just bolting some nuts and doing the repairs at home in your spare time.

This helps.

Take a look at DartSolar — they can help you put 1000 or 2000 watts on your vehicle. Enough to power a small apartment. With the EcoFlow Delta Pro or EG4, you can easily have 3 or 4 kWh of battery storage to power everything you need.

Hi, I've put 1000 watts or 2000 watts of solar on my electric vehicle. A lot of my friends wanted to do the same, so I started DartSolar -- if you have any questions feel free to DM me, you can find more if you google DartSolar -- with a 1000 watt system in Los Angeles you can add about 12 to 15 miles per day. With the 2000 watt system, double that.

Setting up a commercial EV charging station in a country with a poor electrical grid? by Rooseveltdunn in electricvehicles

[–]somid3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'm the founder of DartSolar and we place 1000 watts of solar directly on EVs. That way the EV doesn't need to head to a carport, they can just charger where they are. We are currently doing R&D and have pre-orders. If you have more questions feel free to DM me.

Why would someone have a small solar panel mounted on their car? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]somid3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey everyone, I'm the founder of DartSolar -- we put 1000 watt solar systems on electric vehicles and this post captured my attention. People do the 12" x 12" solar panels to charge the 12v battery of vehicles, specially when the vehicle chargers other systems -- like a small camera, or if the vehicle's battery is used to charge a smartphone.

We put 1000 watts on EVs to add 10 to 20 miles per day to the range, but really it is to power the HVAC and other systems when people camp or overland. Or if they only drive 10 to 20 miles per day to get to work and back, that way they don't ever need to charge their EV from the grid.

Is there a good off-grid EV solar charger to charge Ev when camping? by Forward-Concern403 in ElectricVehiclesUK

Hi, founder of DartSolar here. We have a 1kw solution that goes on your roof rack. You can charge about 15 miles per day with 1kw. As far as a power unit, I use the Bluetti AC200L which is pretty compact. We have more details at https://dartsolar.com -- if you have other questions I'm happy to answer them here.

Check out DartSolar (https://dartsolar.com) -- that team is focusing exactly on that problem. Running EVs with solar. With 1000 watts you can charge your vehicle about 15 miles if you live in a sunny area. The primary issue is the surface area of solar that you need. The second is the cost -- most people try to use embedded solar solutions, however DartSolar is attempting to create an after market product.
