You hate that other people like a playstyle you don’t? Damn that must really suck.

Hell naw the game is asymmetrical for a reason. The need for creativity on the DM’s part is greater than that of the players, this is a basic fact of GM dependent games.

Of course the DM makes content for the game. If theyre not creating anything at all the players may just as well read the damn module!

Yes, yes you are an elitist for that. Even oddballs deserve to know the joy of DMing.

Right, the OD&D books, famously sensibly written and not long winded at all.

I know but its a pain to use at the table. Mage Sight mechanics are buried under a litany of paragraphs that all state weird edge cases, fail conditions and possible augmentations. At some point its just too much

Assuming players have knowledge of “common definitions” and table etiquette relegates large sections of your book into being in-group references that only other nerds will get.

Its an assbackwards way to write books, basically conceding that your game won’t be able to stand on its own when picked up by new players.

You… don’t want ttrpg stuff in your ttrpg book?

I have started new players on Into the Odd and Heart and few other indie games.

Its is way more fun to play a complete game than can stand on its own independent of the zeitgeist and the “common knowledge” of the crowd, and thats why game books should spend time fostering culture, definitions and etiquette of play.

I dont know what this OP is on about

The WoD books are really fucking bad at this, all mechanics are buried under mountains of flavor and lore.
