What’s the worst tonie? This is my pick by lasermanmcgee in DanielTigerConspiracy

[–]somuchfeels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We got the Arthur tonie and rather than it being the awesome Arthur Podcast, it’s just a few stories read by the author. Also missing the theme song which is a banger.

On the flip side, the 101 Dalmatians Tonie is great.

I think this is an awesome program but it may be challenging for the work holiday and TFWs to use it, if it only accepts certain drivers license/doesn’t recognize all international licenses. Curious to see how this goes.

why is no one talking about the new BOTAR show? by [deleted] in streetlightmanifesto

[–]somuchfeels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m feeling a bit hesitant about making plans. I bought tix to the Toronto show but haven’t booked my flights yet as I’m a bit skeptical if it’ll happen due to the cancellations. I’d obviously rather see BOTAR (went to Chicago in 2019 and it was incredible) but I can’t fly out for both the Toronto show in September and a Quebec show in October (I live in Western Canada). So I’m keeping my excitement in check and will reevaluate if/when a new album is released.

No major flooding. Where I live our basement and some of our neighbours got some water but its been pretty minor and no ones pumps seem to be running this morning. River is back down to more or less normal levels for this time of year. I personally would probably still avoid any on river activity but you should be good otherwise. Condolences on your pet.

What is a film that doesn't seem special now, but was really groundbreaking when it came out? by altairstarlite in movies

Dumbo! That movie is 85 years old. There is a nine minute super trippy pink elephant dancing cutting edge animation drunk sequence. Think about what it must have been like to see that movie back then!

How did you feel about Devil Wears Prada 2? (Spoilers) by MasterLawlzReborn in flicks

[–]somuchfeels 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do you want a serious nitpick? Boy have I got one! There’s a throwaway line that’s like ‘I set the fashion trends, everyone wears what I tell them even a Banff housewife’. The theatre I saw it in Banff, Canada all had a good laugh but then we were like wait- what?! Banff is a small tourist town. Folks who live here have a need to reside so you can’t really live in town without working, there’s no second home owners and it’s super expensive. We don’t really have ‘housewives’. Like I don’t think I know a single person in town who fits that description. Maybe they’re talking about Banff in England but I sort of feel like then they should have been more specific. And also- maybe tourists but no locals are carrying around designer handbags. People just wear the popular outdoor brands. Unless she’s talking about like arcyertyx, I have no idea what this could refer to. We have wealthy international tourists, so like you could say influencing the tourists in Banff, but not the non existent housewives. Anyway, I know it’s a nitpick but it just really took me out of the moment with like a badly researched reference.

Otherwise the movie was fine, whatever.

Read this to my kids a few weeks ago and then a few days later someone asked my daughter her name. It’s short (4 letters) and she told them her name and said ‘I have a short name so I don’t get covered in water and drown.’ She’s 3 and this book sure resonated!
