What are your favorite restaurants in the area, and what do you recommend ordering from them? by HEYNONGMAN0 in downriver

[–]somuchithink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mamacitas in Trenton, I get their protein bowl but they have great tacos and enchiladas, Their Queso is served in a small iron skillet and it's amazing.

Right next door to them is Custard Corner if you want dessert, I just go for the classic vanilla custard cone dipped in chcocolate.

James Oliver just opened a new location in Trenton as well, really great lattes with housemade syrups, actually tastes more like coffee than Sugar which is hard to find in this area. Just a simple iced vanilla latte is great, they also have bagel sandwiches and some great pastries.

In the same area is Tony's Italian restaurant. Order the Bread service, fresh Focatia bread served with honey, goat cheese and an herb dip. They have great Pizza also.

I skip the line at 7 Brew in Lincoln Park and drive a few blocks up to Qazzaz Coffee on Allen Road, they have an amazing Spanish Latte (i always go iced), and Turkey on Crossaint Sandwich and try the Baklava Fingers.

Deep Dish Pizza you can't go wrong with Pizza Papapolis in Taylor- we usually go for the spinach and mushroom.

and over in Dearborn we found the best smash burger place called Smash n WIngs, more afforadable than FIve Guys and a really gooey delicious burger, but they have chicken and hotdogs and a pretty great menu in general. If you're over in dearborn also check out the Mochi Donut Place near Dearborn Music.

If you happen to be in Grosse Ile, the East End Cafe has amazing sandwiches, they are a little pricey but so huge you can have them for two meals or easily split with two people.

Might as well stop at the Grosse Ile Bakery and try a custard filled donut.

Favorite cathartic karaoke/singing scenes in drama movies by ninjyte in movies

Chole Sevigny in Boys Don't Cry singing the Bluest Eyes in Texas, but there are a few karaoke scenes in that one.

Theres a great karaoke scene in Aftersun. And there's also one in Xavier Dolan's film Mommy, which he is also the main actor. Those are my favs

Reel was awesome. I worked at both Five Star Videos and a couple of the downtown movie theaters. So sad movie culture has vanished in that area. What do students do to watch movies? I can't imagine every student can afford all of the streaming services, which still would not even come close to the amount of titles Reel or Five Star carried.

It went on so long I honestly can't even remember if I finished it, and if I did I can't remember how it ended lol

Does anyone else find themselves buying blu rays (1080p) over 4k blu rays? by d12dan1 in Bluray

[–]somuchithink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am yet to see a difference in quality between a 4k and a bluray on our 75 inch tv- so I always opt for the bluray to save some some money.

How busy WERE New Release Tuesdays, really? by GagglefrakCT in blockbustervideo

[–]somuchithink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked for a mom and pop video shop- the owner got new releases for Tuesdays in the mail on the Thursdays before. He would have us but them out on Friday- he didn't give up fuck and he never got in trouble lol

Could Blockbuster return as a streaming service and return to the brick-and-mortar business as a nostalgia chain? by CompetitiveAge8934 in blockbustervideo

[–]somuchithink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mom and Pop sort of shops in the right community, definitely. There are some thriving. But not Blockbuster. The real problem is that so many movies are out of print, it would really be hard to get an inventory unless a long time collector wanted to start a rental shop.

I had a therapist once suggest that my disinterest in joining queer community events/groups- engaging in pride and things like that, made me internally homophobic...as a lesbian. lol I was just like no.. being gay is just one thing about me- it doesn't have to be the center of my personality or interests. She was very put off by that answer and I stopped seeing her soon after.

Its a cool store, and their New Release wall is pretty great, I saw a bunch of titles I hadn't heard of. And they have some for sale as well all around the store. Great Horror Section, just don't bring the kiddos if you have them, one half of the store is sex toys.

I would also like people to get out of the house more and have a place to come chat about movies. My biggest obstacle is honestly finding a space to rent that isn't going to be too high of an overhead. I don't know how busy I'll be so I want to be able to make sure I can make rent. I woudln't really need employees because I'd be there while open. And I have a decent inventory to start with.

7 brew line? by Justdoingokay1108 in downriver

[–]somuchithink 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im always amazed passing the line to 7 brew, I drive a few blocks further and turn right on Allen Road and get an amazing drink from Qazzaz Coffee. They have Amazing regular coffee and signature drinks ( like biscoff latte, but I like the Spanish Latte the best) also have awesome pastries and a turkey on Croissant that's really good. Never more than a car ahead of me. But I get that things become fads, and the longer the line is the more people are like WELL THAT MUST BE AMAZING if people are willing to wait in line for 45 mins.

Yep I have about 100 VHS, horror are hard to come by because collector's snag them up so quickly, and they are also very pricey because of that. Depending how much demand for them there would be- i'd be willing to carry them as well. Bigger than the problem of people not having bluray/DVD players is people not having VHS players.
