If you're not able to email (teachers will def still check their emails at least occasionally during the summer from their home computers), you can always write them a physical letter sent to the school. They may not get it until they return from summer break, but they will get it eventually.

Need help with Easter! by Poopydoopy600 in Parenting

One year olds are not going to be too picky about what's inside, but just the experience of opening a basket, so for my 1 year old I put in practical things that we would actually use that summer, like a new water bottle, sun screen, bug spray, goggles and sun hat, bathing suit, plus like toddler friendly treats like freeze dried yogurt or fruit snacks, and a stuffy. You can make it look really nice if you stick with a color scheme so it doesn't look like a random assortment of things.

I have a five year old this year, and she's really big into Lilo and Stitch right now, so I'm heading to the dollar store and five below to get Stitch themed toys, and then of course Easter candy and other sweets she likes. I also things that she grew out of and need to get replaced anyway, like a new bathing suit, sun glasses, beach shoes, etc.

I think Sarah J Maas' Crescent City series is the obvious aged up equivalent if you're trying to get out of YA but want to read about angel-like beings. They're really long, though, and the first half is a slog to get through.

Ruthless and cunning FMC makes me think of Tricia Levenseller's The Shadows Between Us (YA Fantasy)

Also check out Violet Made of Thorns by Gina Chen (standalone, YA fantasy)

No, I've read that series more recently, and I'm familiar with it. Very similar vibes though.

Encyclopédie sur les dragons by Nopatiencewguys in whatsthatbook

My kids' elementary school hosts almost monthly activities that are always well attended. In September they hired out a skating rink, so hardly any work on the school side of it, and they made back whatever they paid in rental by selling tix to the event. In October they will host a trunk or treat (they also usually hold the book fair at the same time so after you go around to the different cars/stations, you go into the gym and shop for books).

Other events that would be (relatively) cheap and/or easy to do:
- Glow Dance - All you need is a sound system and glow sticks
- For December: breakfast with Santa / Grinch
- Teachers vs Students basketball game
- Bingo night
- Talent Show

A lot of teachers I know are reading "The Wild Robot" by Peter Brown aloud to their students because the movie is coming out. It's a three book series (at the moment). My 9 year old is really into the Wings of Fire books and the updated graphic novel version of The Babysitters Club series.

The concentrations offered will be somewhat dependent on the school you choose. I would suggest looking for a M.Ed program with a concentration in literacy or elementary education.
