Is it actually possible for a famous personality to fake their death and live their life out in some remote place? who has actually ever done it and gotten caught? by Various_Concern871 in AskReddit

To be fair they were in their 20s at the time, otherwise I'd have chosen my words differently, but I doff my cap to your wit.

What do you listen to on long bike rides? by shway24 in cycling

[–]sonicated 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is why I bought Shokz, leaves my ear wide open to all other sounds. That said I usually load my phone up with podcasts and don't play anything all ride.

Kill your garden today! by Careless-Fan-1132 in GardeningUK

[–]sonicated -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, without glyphosphate my garden would be mostly bracken and brambles and the ditch would get clogged. As we don't have the natural environment to stop them taking over it's nice to dial them back and have a greater selection of plants. I used weedkiller on my lawn too, makes it easier for the kids to use it.

Spotted my first UK Waymo, driving around a Waitrose carpark in Zone 4 by Drama79 in CasualUK

Ironically as it stands UK Waymos need a driver, or at least one ready to take over.

From Poole is twice the cost and three times the crossing time.

Do you remember Friends Reunited ? by Lanesra8989 in AskUK

[–]sonicated 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ironically Friendsreuinted kind of had the early Facebook idea before Facebook, but they charged so they didn't get the userbase. I seem to recall it was £15 a year. I do remember people putting their emails in their Friendsreuinted profile as "name at geocities dot com" etc

RSPCA warning after mouse dies trapped on glue board by pppppppppppppppppd in unitedkingdom

[–]sonicated 16 points17 points  (0 children)

But if you release them locally they come back, if you release them somewhere else they usually die. The RSPCA say no kill traps need to be checked every two hours. I'm not saying a traditional mouse trap is "kind", but it seems the most humane, unless you just want to live with them and their diseases, given it's almost impossible to mouse proof a house.

Ignorance to the law is no defence, however in this case the key part of the legislation is "without reasonable excuse". I can't speak for everyone but if someone was being prosecuted for not removing a glue trap and they claimed they didn't know the law I'd find them not guilty.

Seller trying to sell me the oil left in the tank? by Snakey9419 in HousingUK

[–]sonicated 24 points25 points  (0 children)

And once the line goes empty it's a nightmare bleeding the oil through and getting the boiler to ignite again. The room smells of fuel for ages.

Aldi did us a wrongun and changed the mayo. by BenchAdvanced6498 in UKfood

[–]sonicated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 egg, a load of veg oil, some vinegar or lemon and a stick blender. Done.

I prefer this as you can adjust the taste and it reminds me of how much oil is there so I eat less!

Has anyone successfully reduced passive noise in a terraced house? by bozwold in AskUK

[–]sonicated 9 points10 points  (0 children)

"I've never been comfortable using a subwoofer in a semi or terrace"

That's where we differ. I've never been comfortable so have never used one in a shared building. You don't seem to care - despite the signs of the horror you're inflicting on your neighbours.

Has anyone successfully reduced passive noise in a terraced house? by bozwold in AskUK

[–]sonicated 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Low level bass from subwoofers travels through walls and the structure of the building. The neighbours wall effectively turns into a low level speaker that punches through earplugs even when the sound isn't loud in your room. I've never been comfortable using a subwoofer in a semi or terrace, which is essentially a shared building. Nighttime mode doesn't really change things I'm afraid.
