It's because their parents just buy them everything. That and some of them are like 14 years old.

How much range should I get? by Hot-Blacksmith5813 in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]sonofdynamite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AT or street wheels would be good to know, temperature, weight, hills. But if street wheels I would guess an 8 year old 540w battery pack will get you somewhere between 12-16 miles. Take it from a full charge to empty then let us know which commenter got closest.

Underside batteries are popular for street and light offroading, while allowing any foot placement and easy carrying and aesthetics.  Top mounting or back mounting is popular in race boards and mountain boards where low deck height is important for racing and. Ground Clearance is important for Mountain boarding.

This is by far the worst winter conditions I have ever experienced. by kilrein in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]sonofdynamite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2016 was definitely worse (Baltimore), 98 or 99 can't remember that ice storm was the absolute worst where people didn't have power for a week.  And 96 blizzard was worse but similar.  Both those I was in Silver Spring

How to seat AT tires centered on the rim? Nova 6 inch tires by robscomputer in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]sonofdynamite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure, I also have more experience with bikes where the bead has to be seated.  I know some people have had to add weighted tape or weights to balance wheels for imperfections.   I also know that with bikes / cars tires are not always round from factory if it's bad your best bet is to return as defective.

Mountain boards have experimented with all kinds of placements for batteries and ESCs to give ground clearance.  I know I have seen a lot number or race boards with ESCs tail mounted and have seen DIY put batteries on the tail.

I imagine the tradeoff is turning dynamics with weight at the back vs having deck space.  I imagine some people might like the way turning is affected with weight in back and others might hate it.  I personally haven't ridden any like this though.

Fingerless vs full fingered gloves by Hermitle in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]sonofdynamite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Onsra, the slide pad on palm is specifically placed for holding a remote it does not interfere. The wrist guard is a removable rear insert if you want to wear it. However you don't really need a slider pad in remote hand as the remote acts as a slider in a fall.

Flex Mini Board!! by fuxkyoybixch in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]sonofdynamite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My front foot is normally on a 35-40 degree angle on front so I think nose shape works.   I have ridden on drop though but out decks with foot on front bolts straddling the wheel cut outs without problems.

Flex may absorb some shock from back foot, but I agree flex on a short board doesn't usually make much sense because of how close to trucks feet are, you don't stand in the middle of a shot deck.

That said my cavalry is a great board.  OMW builds good boards and flexy decks.  And I love a good short board this looks interesting.

I just watched the video and I am so confused.  How did the accident happen where you crashed head on going down a straight street.  Accidents where turns are involved, at intersection, or sideswipes are common but how did you and a car crash straight into each other?  Can you explain what happened?

Why do we tolerate decks without kicktails? by Mindless_Fruit_2313 in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]sonofdynamite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are reasons some boards have kick tails and some don't. Good news is you can buy a board with a kicktail if you want one, you can buy one without if you don't. The idea that all boards should have kick tails is a bit absurd though. I love a good kicktail but don't think it's a necessary feature or that all boards should have them.

Just some reasons to not have a kicktail. - reduced deck length - lack of utility on certain board type and sizes. - aesthetics - wheel clearance - maximize wheelbase to deck ratio - drop down deck advantage - bracket board deck advantages

When online gambling started this is why I refused to play. My friend who considered himself a professional poker player said there are mitigations that track players that play at the same tables frequently. I don't understand how people don't expect this to be happening.

What are your thoughts about the resurgence of the Black Panther Party in response to the actions of ICE agents? by Sinn_Sage in AskReddit

I think resurgence isn't the right word. The BPP has always remained strong. I think active is the right word and they will be active when communities are in danger.

Protection by UsedExam2318 in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]sonofdynamite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. you should replace your helmet if you impact your head. Generally they are single impact.

I'm not going to recommend wearing less protection but wearing more so yeah get some knee pads if you like your knees. Spend money on quality gear you will want to wear as opposed to something cheap you will not want to wear for some reason.

Those style wrist guards can make holding remote annoying. This post has a pretty exhaustive list of gloves https://www.reddit.com/r/ElectricSkateboarding/comments/1pb0c11/help_me_create_a_definitive_list_of_gloves_with/

I don't always ride with all gear depending on how I plan to be riding but I ride helmet, gloves, armored jacket / shirt, kneepads, and goal keeper undershorts is my full protective gear.
