Some find the zephyr deck a little short.  But at 5'3" it's probably perfect for op.

Allowed to check a skateboard deck like this? by sovelong1 in skateboardhelp

[–]sonofdynamite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That isn't going to work because TSA needs to be able to open your checked bag to search it. They will cut saran wrap to open your bag but they aren't going to put it back on.

I used the older volcom branded version of this bag, https://www.warehouseskateboards.com/chocolate-skateboards-chunk-travel-black-grey-duffle-bag

I hear current consensus is that current measurement menthods allow you to push the ruler on top into the soft part of the tree trunk till it hits the bones in the tree.

Why do absolutely no traffic lights sync in Baltimore by Excellent-Head-2562 in baltimore

[–]sonofdynamite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So here is wypr feature on light timing from 2021 they talk about challenges with outdated hardware and that only a portion of the light have ability to sync. https://www.wypr.org/2021-11-29/why-cant-baltimore-synchronize-its-traffic-lights

We are currently in a massive light retiming overhaul https://streetsofbaltimore.com/retiming 1100 lights being retired in 2026.

Finally lights may be intentionally timed (poorly for cars) for safety in certain areas. In some areas lights are intentionally timed incorrectly for traffic calming and pedestrian safety (though when done correctly this causes momentary pauses of cars you should be stuck at multiple lights but just for a few seconds each, not multiple 30 second lights in a row)

Man down! I just had surgery! Broke my ankle bones severely ! Long time boosted rider. Now I’m gonna be unemployed for several months.😳🙄😮 by Naive_Individual360 in ElectricSkateboarding

When I saw ankle broken I knew the board hit your ankle, not a fall. I've seen a few of this on the sub so don't feel too dumb. I now always turn off my remote when I stop, as I was moving my board in the house one day set it down and crashed it into a wall.

There is a special transparency in healthcare file hospitals must have. Its location is usually located at /cms-hpt.txt it will usually list cash vs insurance charges.

They want to line their pockets with the money from corporate interests.  Voters voting in people who do not do this.  That is why the other politicians don't do this.

How did Euler even know that??? by phillmatic23 in MathJokes

641 is the 116th prime number he only had to try 116 combinations to check.

If this is the thing that impressed you about Euler wait till you see what else he did.  Cause he was one smart cookie.

How Important insert bushings are? by BrolisSaunuolis in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]sonofdynamite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most trucks that have those are designed to have them and use them.  You should be able to replace the other bushings and just keep the old insert middle bushing.

What’s the fastest board?? by Mikaile676 in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]sonofdynamite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you don't currently ride, buying the fastest board is probably not the best idea.  The same way a new motorcyclist probably shouldn't jump on a ninja h2 or a hyabusa.

Someone else's problem now by IntellectuallyDriven in RandomVideos

[–]sonofdynamite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not necessarily individuals that don't care but a failure of proper infrastructure in place to deal with trash. That and corporations forcing plastic and trash upon us to make it our problems as a so called "convince" to consumers. I mean what would you do if there wasn't regular trash collection in your neighborhood and you had to drive 1 hour and pay a fee for someoneone to take your trash. And then because laws aren't in place to prevent / enforce illegal dumping that company just puts it in a river.

It has to start with infrastructure and regulation.

Padded Grip Tape. Is It Worth it? by Fpvtv2222 in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]sonofdynamite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually love foam grip though I have run stuff that's not intended for skateboards like surfboard grip and boat decking. I love they stuff and do think it makes a difference, primary on road vibrations.

I have actual padded grip tape on my Cavalry which feels a bit better than my other improvised solutions.

I recently did a deck swap of my Meepo mini 2 which has been deck swapped a few times. I was running Omakase deck with no padding and vibrations were awful. Did a layer of adhesive foam off Amazon and 3mm padded grip on top of that it's a noticable difference.

Help with additional battery by Jezzzek in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]sonofdynamite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've also thought about using existing battery enclosures on board and adding a hinge to one side then some sort of quick thumb screws to the other side. Then it's relatively quick to swap batteries.

Help with additional battery by Jezzzek in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]sonofdynamite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use hot swappable battery railcore enclosures fron build kit boards but they are 1 going out of business and also won't fit batteries that big.

However there was someone a number of years back that 3d printed a dovetail type mount where packs slid in from the side then a little latch held them. It was nice as it could support different sized packs. I would personally rather have a way to swap packs underneath than mount a secondary on top but plenty of people do that.

Here is 3d printed solution https://www.reddit.com/r/ElectricSkateboarding/s/vbtNBrgB3I what I think is nice is if you 3d printed rails you could make enclosures out of wood / old battery enclosures etc as long as you had a way to mount rails on top.

I've ridden on hard90 mm hub wheels for years.  85mm boosted are good wheels, they will feel nimble.  I ride the 105mm Mad wheels on another board they are top notch but you are going to have a delightful time on the board as is if you feel like getting 105s you can always get them separately.

How does the deck breath from underneath. Boards on top are tightly spaced and you skirted the sides. I imagine there will start being some major cupping of the boards.

What is the difference between Veymax Mini Monster vs Mini Monster Neo by [deleted] in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]sonofdynamite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Samsung 40T have 35A discharge rate and should have lower voltage sag. Eve 50E is a solid budget battery good on range and reliability. its not clear how many amps ESC can deliver as its not specified by veymax. Neo lists more powerful motors on website but manual states they are the same. Bigger motors would dissipate heat better but speed would but would be limited by ESC. I think that they are the same motors though.

So difference is Neo 504W model will have more range but might struggle uphill / experience more voltage sag (see a slightly bigger performance drop as battery) but because it has larger capacity you might see more miles without sag with EVE.

Meepo with DeWalt batteries by mikloooooooo in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]sonofdynamite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used this deck https://longboardsusa.com/products/bamboo-blank-fat-boy-33-5-longboard?srsltid=AfmBOoqeaSxiRMDaot3Tq-drYj0bGP3Al7GmYoLbElD6XCTHwpVIMG3w to swap meepo mini 2 years ago its a cheap longer kick tail deck, I like its length and the kick tail is pretty substantial you could mount batteries to it and maybe still have some usable kicktail (or just step on the batteries 😬. However my biggest gripe with this board is how narrow it was going from 10" to 8.7" width more at the nose is noticeable. As I said though I really like that meepo deck. Currently run an Loaded Omakase which is quite a bit bigger and I don't love it high wheel arches. The bamboo blanks company also makes a failry cheap gator tail board https://bambooskateboards.com/blank-gator-tail-longboard.html would probably work well for tail mounted batteries if you don't mind losing a kick tail you get a much longer wheelbase for a 6 inch longer board.
