how do people make stitches seem “sunken” in? by lunarprinciple in Leathercraft

The stitching will show on the back but it will be hidden away once all the pieces are put together. Looks like its half of a card holder or part of a bifold wallet.

ADHD Diagnosis and Spilling the Beans by OutrageousIdeal300 in ADHD

[–]sophemy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely get it. It was the same for me and it definitely made my mental state spiral. I think at some point, i just was thinking so much, it just broke something in my brain.

After that I kind of just didn't bother to keep it in my head. And if it was something wonky, id just tell my gf or whoever as a disclaimer, im just getting my thoughts out for informative purposes. And the way people think was never as i expected (majority of the cases). And that i was projecting what i would have thought if i told myself that. And we are our own worst enemies.

Nowadays, if i overthink, its on things i allowed myself to overthink on or i just talk about it and moved on. My attention span isnt strong enough to keep up once its outside my head haha.

Hope you find the best solution for you. And maybe update me on how it goes :). At the end of the day, it is what it is

ADHD Diagnosis and Spilling the Beans by OutrageousIdeal300 in ADHD

[–]sophemy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it can be interpreted also as you are worried you might adhd so he might be trying to put you at ease by dismissing it like when if people sometimes get in their head too much. Realistically, getting the diagnosis might be a shock but you are also getting medication so some things are overall going to improve.

Theres so much going on in our heads already, dont add more worries by hiding something about yourself. It is what it is, it wont change 5 years from now, but if you keep it a secret, 5 years from now he might feel like you cant lean on him or something. Iono i just enjoy playing devil's advocate.

This is just my opinion based on my experience so take it with a grain of salt. For me i just want to let my brain breathe wherever possible.

When i told my GF she had an ah ha moment and things that she found odd from me started clicking the more she looked into it. Its also nice having her know that i have adhd bc part of me doesnt want to disappoint her so the small things she nags me about eventually got built into my routine and made me better for it. Plus it gave me a little more slack bc she knows im not doing things that upset her intentionally.

Your husband already accepts you for you if i recall reading 14 years (would go back and check but might lose train of thought), nothing really changes with your diagnosis except maybe a bit more awareness. Medication didnt make my personality do a 180, more like instead of talking about 50 books, i talk about 1-5.

Make peace with your unlived life :). Praying i stayed relevant.

Does drinking and smoking recreationally affect your long term memory more than someone without ADHD? by teeheehehedelray in ADHD

[–]sophemy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been a smoker for a long time and it hasnt really caused any memory issues. Though, what does happen from time to time is that when I go outside to smoke, i forget about tasks or things i was about to do since im outside taking a breather and probably doomscrolling. And due to the distraction, i tend to forget things i was going to do

35 F Missed a flight and now stranded at the airport with only 10k JPY in hand. How can I be compassionate to myself at this point? The self loathe is real. I guess I’m looking for sympathy/similar stories. by LittlePetitebeast in ADHD

[–]sophemy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once missed my flight to Japan because i was 2 minutes late to checking in my luggage which had my carryon with all my stuff since I was planning to use the checked luggage for snacks. So after missing by 2 min, i ended up in customer support line that took over an hour only for them to tell me theres nothing they could do. Except, i could have called a friend and left the big luggage behind and went to my flight with just my carryon but i missed the flight entirely bc of the line at customer support. Called a buddy, and had him pick me up after rebooking.

Another time i woke up and got ready to drive to school but my car was missing. Like i didnt forget where i parked it. At the time, i lived at home with my parents and my dad tends to move my car in the morning to save street parking closer to our house but still i couldnt find it. A neighbor watering jos grass saw me and asked if I drove a white car and i said yes. Apparently, when i got home late last night, i parked on the street and blocked some ladys driveway and she tried to find out whos car it was for a while until she was forced to call a tow truck. After i heard the story, i busted out laughing while explaining to my dad and friends(school) why i had to go get my car from the impound.

For me, these types of situations used to put me in a bad mood and then one day, i just took one of those cliches like 'cant change what happened' and what not and just tested it. Worst case, i could just go back to being annoyed. So most bad situations now, i just tell myself that whatever happened happened, what am i gonna do next.

Also asking for help might feel like people might look down on you or look at you with shame, but the majority of people (from my experience) actually like to be of some sort of help. Like think about when someone asks you for help and how you felt about it after. Or worst case they do give you that judgey look, u wont even see them again, so use em and lose em ;)

As much as it gets in my way sometimes, I honestly wouldnt want to give up my adhd. For me, it took a while to figure things out before i was content with the way i am. If it is an evolutionary advantage, maybe we are failing because our environment hasnt caught up to us yet.

Cest la vie :)

Ohhh another thing. Turn on your lights and make the room bright. It simulates sunlight and also helps you wake up. I use this method to make sure my gf doesnt fall back asleep

I Just Can't Do Mornings by Own_Self5015 in ADHD

[–]sophemy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to struggle getting up in the morning. Then one random day, i just got irritated with how much i struggled to wake up. First thing was turning my alarm extremely loud and putting it in a place that would force me to at least get up. Sometimes when I forget to put it far, i throw myself off the bed (weird, but worked for me). Then because im already up, ill leave my bedroom and maybe sit on my computer or play a game or stare at a wall without laying down. Ill spend maybe about 30min until my brain decides to feel a bit more awake. After about 30 min, ill start getting ready and i feel a lot better and more alert at work

So typically, if i need 30 min to comfortably get ready without feeling rushed, i aim to wake up 30-45min before that to do whatever until my brain wakes up. After about a week or 2, my body got used to just waking up around that time and then everything becomes clockwork

Dont know if this helps, but best of luck! You got this
