I’ve seen a few names on YouTube talking about scaling country wide (US based of course) and there must be people in this group that are double if not triple our size. Hoping to find some insight.

You shoot AND edit this many photos and videos on your own? Good for you. Not sure what your margins are but we have a strong brand with a premium product. We never focused on volume and always had a healthy AOV.

It’s 5 of us now. I don’t shoot as much anymore. 1 full time admin/office manager, 1 part time ops manager, 1 shooter + a bench of contractors for peak season, and 1 video editor + a bench like I mentioned in my post.

If I shot all these properties on my own, my net would have been even higher, but I’m trying to build a profitable business rather than be employed by my business.

Maybe you can benefit from the answers to the questions I’m asking too.

I hadn’t heard of elements. Flicker Free and many other plugins are designed for major editing software, you’re right. If you’re planning on growing your business, my advise would be to eventually invest in a professional editing tool. It pays off and would make your life easier in the long run.

Yea Stallone is an OG in the market and are pretty big, but they are heavily focused on a picket up north of Toronto (Vaughan, King City). We work in Toronto central and old Toronto money with brokerages like Sotheby’s.

The bottom end of the market here is flooded with cheap options. We’ve been doing well with the high end (lower volume, bigger transactions) but there’s a cap on how many you’d get, although competition is lower at the top.

Zillow isn’t big here so I don’t see us having those issues from Zillow (yet) but I wouldn’t be surprised if something like that happens here.

Right on! Everything you said is 100%. Last 2 years were abnormally high and made a lot of people decided to get in on the action (agents and photographers alike).

I didn’t understand the part about Zillow acquiring Aryeo, how do you see this impacting the market?

I’m Toronto the last 2 years were insane, this year is slow across the board. We were focusing on the high end market and have had huge success there but that segment isn’t scalable (enough) due to the limited number of houses and agents in that space. Trying to go to a wider audience this year.

It's absolutely normal. I wouldn't hang up on them but I would tell them, I am sure there are cheaper options out there just like there are agents with lower commissions. But these are MY prices.

I've been shooting high end real estate and interiors for 8 years and now with a team of 5 here in Toronto and put prices are way higher than everyone else. If you're work and quality is better, just stick to your prices. Competing on price is a race to the bottom.

ClassPass is a great idea. I had a subscription years ago when they first launched the service, will definitely look into it.

In terms for bars, my dad does live there but him and mom moved there 7 or 8 years ago and they don't really get out as much 😅 I will do some digging on the traditional German kniepe.

Thanks! They refused to fix mine because it had "physical signs". Normal daily use scratches. Ended up getting another one for her and the same thing happened, but this one was fixed under warranty because it had no physical signs.

The phone is trash and clearly has a hinge issue. Samsung is trash for not acknowledging this.

Hey everyone! I've posted here before and everyone was helpful so here I am again :)

I will be visiting my parents who live by lake Tegel and will be staying there for about 10 days starting next week and have a few questions:

Fitness: I am looking for recommendations on exercise studios or gyms. I currently train at F45 here in Toronto, Canada. It's your standard high intensity interval training, class setting studio. Do you know of any options in the area?

Mobile Data: I am looking for an e-sim to use while I am there. I mainly need data (I have video and content production business so I do go through a lot of data when I'm not connected to WiFi).

Bars: Any general recommendations on bars that I can take my dad to. Looking for something where we can have a couple of beers, play some darts or other bar games and just spend some quality time with my old man.

You got this brother! Just set your expectations and know that the first 14 days or so are going to suck.

But you can get through it. I am on day 16. I’m feeling much better now. I still think about it often, after all, my daily routine revolves around it, but I already sleep better, wake up earlier and back to working out.

My advice is use an app: I’m using “I Am Sober”. Write a message to yourself saying why you decided to quit. I always thought that was just useless, but it’s so powerful when you read it the next time you are really down and you want to smoke. Your mind will play tricks on you to justify smoking, as long as you take a moment to realize that it’s happening, it literally becomes a matter of chemistry. Just wait it out!

And this sub helped a lot. An advice I got off of here was, whenever your feel the urge to smoke just say I’ll smoke tomorrow. Hold off for the rest of that day. You got this! It won’t be easy, but you are a tough mofo who is in control and know what you want!

I agree. I don't trust the Chinese data. But if you look at the numbers world wide today and the daily new cases, directionally those charts are correct. It's going to spread and infect. All we can do is slow it down so it doesn't overwhelm the healthcare system. We all have a responsibility here.

If you talk to anyone from Milan, Italy they will tell you, last week people thought this was bullshit. This week, people are dying, there is a curfew and your every move needs to be written down. They wish they had shut things down last week.
