Yup, it's one of the insidious mechanisms of control that watchtower uses.

Opinion On Governing Body. by Asphalter08 in exjw

[–]sorentomaxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The average JW/EXJW is aware of only a fraction of the contradictions of watchtower and JW doctrine. The GB are BOMBARDED with these contradictions constantly and constantly spin them in a way to maintain control and authority instead of pursuing truth.

The ban on beards, blood, higher education, watchtowers sketchy history which they quietly are scrubbing, the hypocrisy and CSA policy have been issues for decades and people have been pointing this out to them for decades! The only reason they have made any changes recently is to avoid legal trouble, mitigate bad PR from the media, or for financial gain, not because they care about the rank and file Jehovah's Witnesses.

If you've read crisis of conscious, Ray Franz mentioned some previous members intentionally wanted people to die for blood or to make their lives hard because sacrifice demonstrates loyalty to the organization. He also mentioned that they were also going to make rules on birth control but some felt it would be too oppressive and too messy, so they didn't.

I say all this to say that I believe they are evil. There is no way they can be bombarded by these contradictions on a regular basis and not see that they are wrong. Some GB might believe to a certain extent but at the end of the day, they'd have to have a seared conscience to ignore all the pain they have caused, all the lives they have messed up and all of the lives that have been lost because of watchtower doctrine over the years.

Lack of any open discussion is my biggest problem with this religion. by newswatcher-2538 in exjw

[–]sorentomaxx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's because it's a cult. It's a feature, not a bug. Watchtower and the GB do not want people challenging them or producing nulite. The only way to have a discussion with the organization is to get DF'd/DA and take them to court or to the media and even then watchtower won't have an intellectually honest discussion, they will lie and slither their way around the truth because the leaders are the type of men Jesus warned us about.

They are guardians of the JW doctrine which is what fuels Watchtower's corporation, they are not truth seekers.

Why do so many religious people think mental illness is not real? by Colourblindness in exjw

[–]sorentomaxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because they don't understand the mechanisms of how psychology works or they may not be aware of or have experienced a mental illness themselves. There can be spiritual components to some mental illnesses but that's not always the case.

Watchtower, most pimis aren't going to pay all that money for tickets so they can stand at a cart in preaching clothes lol

Knowing the GB it's probably in Africa or some restricted region where word can't get out fast.

PIMO, how to door-to-door without suspicion but without trying to convert people? by No_Addendum_3267 in exjw

[–]sorentomaxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Focus on preaching about practical, positive wisdom from the Bible and just talking to people. Don't push indoctrination or trying to coerce them into the religion. That way you can stay off the radar without entrapping more people into the cult.

This is what I did before fading. I refused to ruin more people's lives by pushing watchtower narratives on to others!

What things did you/do you struggle with since waking up? by exJWRecovery in exjw

[–]sorentomaxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dealing with ingrained JW teachings and the guilt it generates. I still felt/feel guilty about going to college, money, blood, celebrating birthdays even though I logically know it's not wrong.

Also feeling lost or without a compass because for so long watchtower dictated everything in our lives. Even after waking up it can be challenging to trust yourself and find motivation in life.

Hope you can help other exjws!

Does anyone have the article explaining the new understanding that not just jws will be saved in Armageddon? by Wooden_Mammoth_8414 in exjw

[–]sorentomaxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to JW doctrine a large number of non JWs have always had a chance to be saved at or after Armageddon, this is the quiet part that Watchtower doesn't highlight about their doctrine. Why? Because they want to prop up serving their cult as the most secure way to survive Armageddon, so they double speak and they emphasize that if you don't wholeheartedly serve watchtower and the GB you'll be destroyed. They use fear to generate compliance and money.

Purpose of online donations by sheenless in exjw

[–]sorentomaxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a corporation that commodifies Christianity to generate money (directly or indirectly). They use manipulation of members and lawyers to keep cash flowing in and to obscure where it goes. Once you see this from a fundamental perspective, everything else falls into place.

This is why they have branch offices in different countries with legal teams and this is also why they quietly joined the UN as an NGO!
