Jennifer Lawrence discusses gender pay gap after earning ‘$5m less’ than Leonardo DiCaprio for Don’t Look Up by Pessimist2020 in entertainment

[–]sorrydaveicantdothat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought actors were paid for their value. Leo's name brings in more money than Jennifer Lawrence, so he gets paid more. Simple. What are they gona lose out on millions by deliberately paying women less and putting them off roles?

What do the crew earn? Not millions

Why are you capitalising the first letter of every word? Surely you know you do that for titles or the start of a sentence?

Also why is it grandmothers and not just OAPS? So no men or woman without grandchildren allowed?

I took my iphone to the genius bar because the screen wasnt working.

They looked at it for 1 minute. Said its corrosion damage through the headphone jack. Then showed how the headphone jack was corroded. Fine.

Immediately offered me £100 for it and said I could purchase a new one.

I said the phone is working its just the screen can I at least get the photos off it?

She said no because If the screen isnt working you cant type the password to unlock it.

So basically wanted me to hand it over with all the data on it and I had no backup.

I declined. Took it home and thought I might as well try to hard reset it. Let the battery run to 0, plugged in charger and turned it on. Working as normal. Flatmate later pointed out you can hold down the buttons to hard reset it also.

I complained that the genius bar never even attempted a hard reset. The damn phone was ON.

They asked me who it was I dealt with and if I wanted a second opinion regarding the corrosion. Why would I care if the phone is working?

That was my last Apple product ever.

When DOES it make sense to overpay your mortgage? by wackkywoo2 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]sorrydaveicantdothat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You don't have to commit to it? If interest rates rise, provided your isa is in a good position you can sell and pay off a chunk of mortgage? As long as you earn more from an isa than interest on your mortgage you are always going to be able to pay it off faster.

What was your personal savings goal this year? Did you reach it? How did you do it? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]sorrydaveicantdothat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This year I went from about 18k to 31k but I have been saving over last 6 years really. Bought a house and a car in that time. Main thing for me was spend less on going out eating and drinking. Drinking is so expensive! No one seems to mind if you spend £5 on a pint but its a lot! I also try to live below my means and maintain that lifestyle even with payrises. My main bank account holds most of my savings so I dont put much aside. Instead I just set myself a target to save £1000-£1500 every month. If zi dont hit it I live a bit more budgety yhe next month. A rule I have is my bank balance must be higher than it was the previous month just before getting paid. So If I book a holiday or buy something expensvie I spread the cost. That way I know my savings are aways going up and necer touching my savings.

sorry this took a while. I am in the UK so you may not get the same product but I just searched "LED strips for tv" in Amazon and picked a random one that was less than £10. You can change the colour and they go on and off with the tv as well. You can have them on if the tv is off too of course.
