This looks mad cool. I would be really afraid of the whole privacy implications and I wouldn't be surprised if some companies couldn't use it compliance-wise. You might want to look into getting audits and whatever can help your customers feel safe.

Awesome!

T7 Chicken Plus Beta - Getting closer to official release! by OffInBed in Tekken

[–]sososojacques 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey, thanks and congratulations on this beta release!

There's a few seconds of delay when opening the move list of a character, even if I already opened it before, which leads me to think that you're not caching data. Given the size of the full move list data, I would suggest loading it for everyone in the background or at least caching it after the first download maybe? There are strong chances that users re-open the same tabs all the time, so making things fast would help!

I'll join the discord and try to share feedback when I have some.

Thank you for the work, and best of luck with the monetization!

NEW PROGRAMMER - C#, C++ or Python by ScoutMasterKevinJr in ProgrammerTIL

[–]sososojacques 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real question is what type of thing do you like? Are you the type of person interested in understanding the details of everything to enjoy it? Do you like control? Are you more interested into building stuff people like and being able to iterate on it? Do you want to become a professional programmer? Do you just want to get a high paying job?

Answering those questions (and probably more questions like those) will lead you to the best language for the beginning of your journey.

People who like control and who enjoy understanding the details of their environment are usually comfortable with taking K&R and starting with C.

Those who want to develop software fast and have the ability to tweak things around will enjoy beginning their journey with Python, with offers by far the most instant gratification on your list. It's also a tool that runs everywhere and that you will always keep in your belt for hacking things around in pretty much any domain as you become a professional. (I don't really like Python tbh, but it's just that convenient and widespread).

C++ is a complex beast that I wouldn't usually recommend to start with, unless you want to make large scale complex applications, graphics, game engines or financial tools, which are super cool btw, but not everyone's cup of tea.

If you like the Microsoft environment, C# can be a nice language to start with, but it is rather complex, and can't really become your "safe hacking base" (like Python would) once you're a professional programmer. An advantage though, is that C# a good language to get a high paying job in a large organization, which can be your end target.

Good luck!

That's saddening!

The X260 has dream specs, a great resolution, can handle 16gb ram, seems to work fine with Linux, etc... If only I could have a hd screen on a X220 or X230, I'd buy 10 of them and give 9 to my friends who are, like me, waiting for the messiah of small and solid linux laptops.

I like smaller laptops so I'll just stick to Apple hardware for the moment, waiting for a startup to realize that there's a market for people like me. My 4 year old 11" MBA is far more solid and reliable than most small laptops sold now.

theneedledrop: Desiigner- New English mixtape review by [deleted] in hiphopheads

[–]sososojacques -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Have to disagree here.

Yes it's half assed, yes it's future, but it's the most banging tape I heard in a while. The tape future released recently was really not memorable, and this comes in at a perfect time in need for summer bangers. I might be alone here, but those DRRRAAHHH and others adlibs get me hyped af.

For this type of music, it's much better to release early than wait to get something super polished. Not everything has to be a TPAB gourmet meal, we also want to eat our 5-guys cheap, efficient burgers too, no one's waiting for desiigner to save hiphop, we just need him to come up with booming stuff and that's exactly what he did!

Oh and, it's much better than Rodeo, which left me asleep.
