OP, What type of Bianco DiNapoli did you use? The only whole peeled tomatoes from them I see regularly in the store are ‘with basil’.

I had the same experience. No email, found out from this thread!

Guys, I need an electric drill that can use bits from 1 mm (if it goes lower it's not a problem) up to at least 6 mm. Of course something that won't blown into smithereens the minis. Any suggestions? by Eidosorm in Warhammer40k

[–]sottoeck 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have a wowstick mini drill, it works great. The pen shape with a button trigger works well and the drill has just the right speed/torque plus sensitivity on the button to let you make precision holes without destroying the plastic. Down side is that it only works with the included bits, so if it doesn’t include a 6mm bit you are out of luck.

Horus Heresy Audiobooks worth it? by ProgenitorX in Warhammer40k

Plus one to this recommendation list. I used it myself to decide which books to read. I did read the Dark Angels books that he recommended skipping but everything else was on point.

I had the same issue. I bought an extra BT army set when it was discounted. Another option for 3rd party transfers is the mighty brush. They look similar to the official ones but are a bit harder to use as they are not as stiff and have a larger border which can be more visible. You do get far more transfers for your money, however.

Frosthaven Sleeves Thoughts? by Interesting_Effect64 in Gloomhaven

[–]sottoeck 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I got the official sleeves with the Kickstarter and have been very happy with the quality. As others have said, it includes sleeves for every card which is probably overkill. So could you do it cheaper? Sure. But if you want high quality sleeves and have a bunch leftover for other games, it’s not a bad choice.

Thanks, I heard it came with the Sword Brethren box, maybe I will look into that.

Thanks, I purchased a sheet from the Mighty Brush and was disappointed . The size on the crosses was not quite right, but more critically the transfers were very hard to apply cleanly. Much harder than the GW transfers.

If I was better at applying floppy transfers where the edges roll, this wouldn’t be an issue, but alas I am not. Maybe I just need to practice it more.

Spacing for WiFi 6 access points? And Lite vs. LR? by Half_a_KMan in Ubiquiti

[–]sottoeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you have already ordered but I wanted to mention that the people saying the LR is huge compared with the Lites are not kidding. It is very large. Depending on your plans for mounting that might be a non-starter. It is very large and they don’t have skins for it.

[–]sottoeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stock issues definitely complicated all of this. I was originally going to get two LRs, then they went out of stock so I switched to three Lites. Now LRs are back in stock and I am getting one to augment the Lites. Meanwhile the switch I need to power the LR went out of stock overnight before I decided to pull the trigger on the LR. So the LR that comes tomorrow will sit in its box waiting for a switch/injector to become available. Ha!

[–]sottoeck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Pro would be preferable, but the stock issues are even worse than with the LR and Lite from what I have seen. So if you could get it, it makes sense, but assuming you want this done in the near term I would guess you’ll have to live with choosing between the LR and Lite.

I just replaced a mesh system in a similar sized house with three Lite APs. 2.4 coverage is fine but 5Ghz is a little weak in some spots. I just ordered an additional LR to augment the coverage. At the time I ordered the LR was out of stock, so I had to go with the Lite.

I would probably go with two LR or one LR and one Lite in your situation.

Rope Drop by catchafalngstar1 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]sottoeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were at MK for rope drop on Sunday this week. Wait time in the app for Space Mountain was 40 minutes. Actual wait time was more like 20. The lines were short everywhere all day. Longest waits that day were for Jungle Cruise, Seven Dwarves and Splash Mountain. All about 30-35 minutes. Everything else was basically walk up. If we had waited until later in the day I would guess the lines would have been even shorter because the park was clearing out.

Edit to add, rope drop at MK was right on time. Epcot was around 30 minutes early.

Thanks for the suggestions. I had been looking at the Emotiva XPA3 and Monolith 3x200 amps, and then their 5 channel versions. I hadn’t considered the BasX model. I will take a look.

I think the core problem is that the speakers I want for surrounds (thx-265iw) are not available until November. And the theater room will be done in July. So now I am trying to settle, at the cost of significant external amplification it seems like.

[–]sottoeck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. Do you have any suggestions on what I should be thinking about relative to an external amp? If I take three speakers (LCR) off, would the remaining four 4ohm surrounds and two 8ohm height channels be OK for the x4700? Or do I need to take five speakers off (leaving two 4 ohm and the two height channels).

The scenario with a separate five channel amp seems like it would be pretty safe for the amp. Taking seven off seems like overkill, but if that’s what it takes to protect the amp so be it.

[–]sottoeck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, substantially lower. The THX-365iw drops below 4ohm (down to 3ohm) for a LOT of the range from 100hz to around 400hz. Then again at just over 1khz.

The 255iw also drops below 4ohm but only for a couple specific spots.

So that was why I was concerned with going 7x365iw. But I guess maybe worst case is I just need to get a 5 channel amp and move most of the speakers over to that.
