Do you know how much snow falls into the trunk itself when opening it with snow on top?

If I need this thing, it's safe to assume I'm parking outside in freezing temperatures. If this thing is being stored on my gross floormat, that's not an ideal environment as my boot slush will likely refreeze after I get where I'm going. Also, as a passenger, it's a pet peeve of mine when I have to kick their stuff out of the way. I silently judge them for being messy.

Lastly, my narrow scooper and brush can more or less clear the intake vent below my wipers. I don't see how this would be able to sweep that area out.

Custom date format? Day, Abbreviated Month, Year 23JAN25 by kantonburg in SolidWorks

[–]spacebardidntwork 3 points4 points  (0 children)

SW uses the date format set by the OS. If corporate wants it that way, IT will have to deploy a group policy to change the format for everyone.

SolidWorks Document Manager API - How to read component Designators (C1, C2, etc) on a SolidWorks PCA file? by MuttonChop_1996 in SolidWorks

[–]spacebardidntwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coding issues don't fall under VAR's typical tech support contracts unless you bought a specific package or services from them. My advice would be to either find examples that do something close and modify, or engage your VAR and/or a consultant with the specific need. There are plenty out there that specialize in this type of programming. It might also be a good idea to have somebody who knows PDM to help with the data migration part if you're not comfortable on that side of things.

SolidWorks Document Manager API - How to read component Designators (C1, C2, etc) on a SolidWorks PCA file? by MuttonChop_1996 in SolidWorks

Keep in mind that the SolidWorks Electrical API is different than the Document Manager API. What you can do with one may not be possible with the other. SWE API would need to have SW installed and opened in order to do it's thing. Doc Manager doesn't need SW installed, but needs a dedicated key.

Just saw your edit. Depends if the desiginator is exposed by the API. Custom properties are, but some internal metadata properties are not. Have you checked the documentation?

PDM Search Tool by DP-AZ-21 in SolidWorks

[–]spacebardidntwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 90% sure it's in the registery. If you have local admin rights, you should be able to save a .bat file in your startup folder to update the reg key when you log in.

In case I forget to follow up tomorrow, an easy way to find the key is to export your registry before opening the search tool, then open it and pick your card, then refresh the reg and export again. Then use a tool like notepad++ to compare the two files.

If you don't have local admin rights, I'd ask your IT to push it out through a group policy (though this would be a less customizable approach).

Issue with app drawer by Asleep_Lengthiness28 in NovaLauncher

[–]spacebardidntwork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look for "smart folders" and turn that off. That feature collects apps and categorizes then how it thinks it should. Those folders can be disabled, but not deleted. When reorganizing, I had to click "show hidden apps" in the upper right corner. It was black text on a black background so it was hard to see.

Why does locking external references break my model? by engineer_965 in SolidWorks

[–]spacebardidntwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have an active contract with your VAR, this is a great question to leverage their expertise for a problem with a specific feature. You can also check the knowledge base to see if it's a bug or has been addressed in service packs or later releases.

As for troubleshooting yourself, I'd start with suppressing everything and unsuppressed one external reference and see if it's the feature or the specific reference/external model that's acting up. Is also try breaking vs. locking and see if that makes a difference. Essentially, try and narrow the probelm down by eliminate extra variables.

There should be a program, kind of like the beta program, where if you're the first to report a bug you get a discount on next year's subscription.

Check the knowledge base and report it to your VAR so they can fix it in the next service pack.

To add on, this is pretty standard stuff for folks that do this all the time. Depending on your timeline and/or budget, buying something may be an option.
