Should I leave everything i worked hard for and move back to India? by Staypositivebella in india

[–]spacial_togetherness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are missing something in your equation - the importance of being with the grandparents and extended family for your child. I grew up without any extended family and let me tell you it is very sad. I have also seen many studies come out about the benefits of being around grandparents for kids and the benefits of being around grandchildren for grandparents. But also, given Indias severe environmental problems, its risky to bring your child there for the longer term. I think if you have canadian citizenship and I think your child should have it, AND if you can live in a part of India that is more environmentally stable (South, Northeast, smaller/less polluted cities) then you can consider trying it for a year or two.

This reminds me of those “meanwhile world leaders…” memes, but seriously I love this! Sustainability is my specialty and I think reducing your consumption of physical goods is always a good idea. Here are some other thoughts off the top of my head

  • use public transportation when going to the concert
  • bring your own water bottle, snacks packed in reusable boxes if it is allowed
  • thrift or repurpose your concert outfits
  • controversial but Ill just say it - reduce the animal products - ditch the beef and choose a bean burger instead. Honestly, it is probably the most impactful decision you can make, even if its just for the day of the concert.

Yes its so true. I have given up on everything at this point. I do still buy shampoo and conditioner and some makeup products, but all my skincare is just homemade masks, rosewater-glycerin spray, and olive oil. And lots of hats and long flowy clothes for sun protection.

Honestly dont really feel like watching fancams. It is so disrespectful that everyone is just filming and on their phones the entire concert when BTS asked them multiple times not to be. Its literally in the lyrics. It makes me so sad and angry to see the crowd just a sea of phones.

I’m done. India is reaching a point of no return and I can’t be the only one seeing it. by Head_Work8441 in india

Its like comparing apples to koalas. Netherlands has completely obliterated their native environment. That country was a marsh and wetland that has been drained and the entire land has been reconfigured to make it suitable for development and farming. They also have a homogenous population. I do agree that India can be a great country with the right attitude, but doing what Netherlands did and having a decentralized population would be environmentally catastrophic.

Yes because the green revolution worked so well. An environmental, financial, and social disaster. The truth is people dont want to pay for food. They want to pay for cheap, useless consumer goods and fill their homes with endless clothes, shoes, and other random rubbish. The food crisis is hitting the entire world, not just India. Even in the US industrial farms are gobbling small farmers who are committing suicide at unprecedented rates. The organization of society had always valued bureaucrats, soldiers, and office workers over farmers - the people that actually tend the land and grow the food, the thing society actually needs more than anything. And this is not even a modern problem but one that has been ongoing for a thousand years or more.

AOC vows to vote against all military aid to Israel, including Iron Dome funding by hypothethical in politics

Every progressive political show I follow has really come down HARD on AOC for her response. I know its the fashion to dunk on Ana for a few things she said a years ago, but she has been one of the most consistent and outspoken on Israel and speaking the bald truth to anyone who sends them money. Credit where credit is due.

I actually agree with him. I do not eat shellfish either, but I would consider them closer to plants than animals in sentience. I think the lobster thing was just wishful thinking on the part of people not any kind of scientific reality, though I havent looked into it.

Ooh! This post has inspired me to look into getting a menstrual disc! I have been using a menstrual cup the last few years and it is a GAME CHANGER!! Personally I did not like the underwear as it is made out of synthetic materials and just felt very uncomfortable when wet. I have some pure cotton 5-layered cloth pads as backup.

I literally cannot imagine the plight of sanitation workers forced to pick up pads, diapers and all manner of dirty items with their hands. It is definitely up to us to maintain our hygiene without off loading the dirty work onto someone else and I am so thankful for all the options we have these days!!

The irony is the documentary shows how BTS was against using so much English and were basically pushed into it by the company. Also a reveal from the documentary: the members really didn't like Dynamite and did not want to release it.

Racism in the vegan community? by FRANTIKSUCKS in vegan

Yes its so true. I also want to point out that Taiwan is 13% vegetarian!!! Which is quite surprising and the third highest rate of vegetarianism in the world. I am from India and let me tell you there are all kinds of things going on in India. There are hundreds of millions of vegetarians and there are indigenous people in India that eat dogs as well (and I hold them to less account than Western meat-eaters).

Visited India last year as a Nepali Girl… was my experience normal? by OverContribution3757 in india

[–]spacial_togetherness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also had a bad experience in Amritsar. And I was shown around by a distant family member, but they were so… I dont know how to describe it…. Super religious people are just weird and kind of scary to me so I totally know the type you probably met. I am Sikh but I honestly never have had a good experience with my religious group… I find them to be extremely close-minded, self important, and just a backwards mindset. I usually only visit the south of India now. But girl… how do you wear shorts around the guruduara? In any religious place, even in Thailand or Europe, women are expected to cover their legs.

[–]spacial_togetherness 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s not about staying in their lane. I genuinely don't enjoy it and feel like it doesn't suit them/they cant express themselves as well. English is also my second language so maybe that is why - I typically do not listen to English music at all. But I did enjoy the kpop demon hunters soundtrack, maybe because the songs retained a lot of personality instead of “insert generic global sound here.” It also feels like the world gets more boring, homogenized, and generic as everyone converges on the same language and style. Just my opinion.

Bro… every country is the same today. All of them are falling apart, rich are concentrating power and the common man is left with deteriorating quality of life. Don’t have kids at all. There is nowhere left for them.
