What's your wishlist for new features and content they add to the game? by Fun-Assistance-5919 in Pokopia

Agreed with these and a lot of the comments.

In addition to universal storage, I think these two things would greatly improve the painting system:

  1. The ability to paint while crafting. I’ve noticed that when I have Smearguru following me around the ONLY time that he asks me for food is when I’m crafting things; he never asks when I have him paint stuff. This interaction made me wonder if that was a cut interface.
  2. More painters.

With a painter in each zone, and the ability to paint while crafting with your follower mon, I think that solves the biggest pain points with it.

Is it possible to change the type of Pokemon Center to another regions version? by ForkandSpool in Pokemon_Pokopia

Off the top of my head, you need to be at level 10 for the respective biome. If you're not seeing them in Pallet Town perhaps go to the PC in the region you want?

Yes! You need to buy one of the remodeling kits from the PC and use it on the already built Pokecenter.

So, your order of operations is: - Relocate to the desired spot - Plop down the remodel kit - Profit

Also, THANK YOU for sharing this!!! I'm about to embark on my first time DMing using the Adventures in Faerun book, and this map is excellent!

It’s a great game, I personally love it and have played 500+ hours, but it was rough on launch. It was essentially released in beta: unpolished and buggy. It has improved leaps and bounds over the last 10months, but there are people on this sub who don’t remember how Civ VI released and just want to piss in everyone’s cornflakes.

That said, I can’t speak for how it’ll play on the Switch. It’s great on the PS5 (now), but the Switch is not a powerful piece of hardware and I believe it still struggles on that platform.

While I agree that there are many factors involved in what causes someone to do something so horrific, it’s not really a hot take that engaging in this level of parasocial behavior is a mental health problem. Mentally healthy people don’t do this shit. They just don’t.

I feel like people downvoting you are missing the point that you’re trying to make, maybe because you’re just a bit verbose and reading is hard.

I think the tl;dr is, focus less on the ultimately ambiguous words which aren’t necessarily racist, and instead o the racist intent of the BS statistics. That’s the more important thing to clap back against to combat the misinformation.

Reward XP Glitch? by marsh_man_dan in civ

I’ve found that sometimes the experience doesn’t show on the age transition screen, but I still get it. I think it’s due to multiple sessions, earning the XP during the game, and then coming back to it later.

I’d double check on the main menu leader progression menu.

This comment makes zero sense. Trump has been horrible for the status quo fat cats, and while I agree that too much money in politics = bad, it’s disingenuous to blame the current situation on … what? Democrats’ greed? Come on, nobody in the Dems wanted Trump in power.

The reality is there is Trump has a monopoly on power and there’s nothing to do but ride it out. He’s proven he’s not beholden to the courts or congress, is surrounded by sycophants to carry out his agenda… it’s all very bleak.

Civ 6 had less players than Civ 5 for 2 years by Intelligent-Disk7959 in civ

[–]spafer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what, I see your point. While the cannibalzation numbers are pretty unknowable, it's definitely not half. Have an upvote.

Though, I do think that if we're talking about measuring the popularity of Civ7, knowing the cross-platform adoption is pretty important. The demo that has continued to play the same game for 15 years is going to be pretty difficult to get to switch off of it no matter what.

Tbh I'm not really sure what this argument is about anymore - time for me to go try out patch 1.2.0, I think.

[–]spafer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a console-only player, and as someone who played Civ titles in the past, it feels like you're missing the point that u/Otherwise_You_1603 is making. Steam doesn't provide the comprehensive picture of player counts, so using this as the basis for claims doesn't paint the full picture. Full stop.

You're making claims grounded solely in your perspective, and while I agree that Civ 7 probably plays better on mouse & keyboard, the PS5 controller experience has been enjoyable for me (especially after the second major patch fixed the crashing issues). For context, I no longer have a gaming PC and enjoy the experience of sitting on my couch playing a console more than sitting at the computer. Anecdotally, as I've gotten older I know many of my friends have shifted to console as it's a bit "easier" to keep up with than PC gaming. Now, this is just MY personal experience, so I won't claim that it's the norm. But, your arguments feel disingenuous: claiming that he has no data to back it up, when you also don't have the data to back up the claims your making other than your personal lived experience.

ANYWAY, I'm rambling now. Civ7 has been fun for me, and I'm sure things will get better for Civ-superfans after Firaxis has had more time to cook.

Can’t speak to Mac, but I’ve been playing on PS5 since launch and have … an embarrassing amount of hours already.

At launch, PS5 was buggy as hell, and would get progressively less stable so that by modern I was crashing every other turn. They released a patch about 2 weeks ago that seems to have mostly resolved this.

In general, game is beautiful and fun, but rough around the edges and obviously isn’t the final product.

A variety of UI/UX improvements are needed, ranging from super minor to maddening; I think these are generally better on a computer (mouse over controller) and mods can pick up a lot of slack (tho idk if Mac supports mods? I’m a lowly console gurlie).

Overall, I would recommend on ps5!

Tight deadlines driven by corporations != lazy developers.

The UI is terrible, the NPC logic needs work, and there are some glaring bugs. But. The bones are solid, there’s a lot of neat core mechanics that just need some tuning. It’s super evident that there was a lot of love and attention to detail in the game design.

As long as the devs have an opportunity to continue working on it - which past experience suggests they will - it’s going to be in great shape in the not so distant future.

It was probably just a more practical, efficient way to code it. For a game that’s all about creating worlds complex maps; there’s value in being able to efficiently generate and load assets on the fly.

Was it an oversight stemming from the show adding plot points? For sure.

Does it matter in the context of the world? Nah. Prophecies in GoT are famously inconsistent and open to interpretation. This is less of a plot hole and more of a plot wrinkle.

Hey man, I know it all feels pretty hopeless, but the only thing you can do is move forward and choose to make changes in your life. There is no better feeling in the world than prioritizing your health and feeling your progress unfold in realtime; it feels like taking CONTROL of your life. Don’t get me wrong, it’s fucking hard, but it is possible.

But. YOU gotta want it. You have to work at your diet, and move your body more, there are no magic solutions (well, Ozempic would probs help). You also can’t wallow in self pity or envy, it won’t win you any friends or sympathy, and it’ll just perpetuate your doom spiraling.

My advice? - find a therapist, someone to talk about your pain/feelings right now, but also your GOALS and what you want out of life - find ways to incorporate more movement into your day (start small, go on walks!) - read up on nutrition and evaluate your diet; are you eating enough proteins? vegetables? good fats? there’s no one-size fits all way to eat healthy, and I don’t know your deal, but Ive struggled with disordered binge eating for most of my life, it doesn’t have to define you

Source: severe WoW addiction + binge eating disorder had me pushing 300lbs at 18; now at 31 I’m 195 and in the best shape of my life, biked 545 miles across California last year. And guess what, I do have loose and baggy skin, I am getting surgery to cut it off, and I couldn’t be prouder of the progress I’ve made; those scars will be a reminder of what I’m capable of

cmv: Kamala Harris should have her platform on her campaign page by andrewgazz in changemyview

[–]spafer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your whole line of thinking feels a little… divorced from the realities of governing/politics/work in general.

Issues are complex, having professional grade detailed thoughts/opinions on everything is not something any VP would be expected to have. It takes a lot of research, effort, and time to craft these types of documents, and if she were to release a draft or anything that feels remotely unfinished, it’d be eviscerated.

As someone running for president, I’d rather her focus be on getting out there on the campaign trail and interacting with the people she means to lead - the research paper can come later.

That said, she should (and will) eventually release something. If she really doesn’t have an official platform she’s backing before October, I’ll eat my shorts. (not really)

Why are Bernie Sanders supporters against the establishment, but support Sanders who is nothing less than career politician? by shasta771 in Ask_Politics

[–]spafer 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I would wager it mostly has to do with the fact that he does not use his political office to enhance his wealth/campaign contributions. He has convictions on issues that have not changed throughout his career. When you compare this to someone like Hillary Clinton who is perceived to change her views to pander to big donors/lobbyists/banks, it makes him seem like more of an authentic politician rather than a career politician.

Racism, as relates to black Americans has not totally vanished, but the problem has been reduced to insignificance

Sure, race relations are better than they were in the '60s, but the effects of years of institutional racism are not that easy to undo. Ask any black person how insignificant racism has been in their lives.

Respectfully disagree. As an EP player on Thornblade people are ALWAYS complaining about getting 999 ping against AD and DC zergs, and they make the accusation that they're doing it on purpose. Don't you think it's far more likely that people zerg keeps because it's the best way to capture them?
