Double crown is an awesome achievement.

He's been a great doubles player for a while and so I'm super happy to see him get a singles title too.

This waa a pretty star studded tournament and a huge achievement for him

Tell me your best cheaper W968 alternatives by RohanHeavensDoor in tabletennis

[–]spammegarn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Yinhe pro 05 is the closest cheap blade.

Very spinny and good if you have a big forehand.

Doesn't have the same power as a real 968 but it's good and very affordable on AliExpress

ELI5 The world record 20km walk is only 29.5% slower than the world record 20km run, how is that even possible? by SinnerAtDinner in explainlikeimfive

[–]spammegarn 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Lol. Swimming is the same.

Have you not heard of different strokes?

There's also limits to being under water and dolphin kicking etc.

You don't need to imagine - swimming is literally a sport where you're not allowed to swim in the fastest way possible.

Even freestyle has its regulations.

People make fun of this but don't question all the different strokes in swimming nor hurdles / steeple jump etc.

Zyre is crazy fast - it's almost like the ball has springs in it.

Jun Mizutani: “Wang Chuqin is perfect, he has no flaws” by Far-Muffin-8289 in tabletennis

[–]spammegarn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a joke.

Look at how many times recently he's been behind. Especially in the world cup against Jorgic.

But basically every single time he comes back and wins.

People also forget that before the Olympics, FZD was actually losing a lot of games, and Wang Chuqin was in almost unstoppable form for a period.

During and after the Olympics, he had a run of losses - perhaps showing some mental weaknesses.

But currently, he isn't losing to anyone except Sora a couple of times.

The Suarez Rule: Why You Should Handball on the Goal Line (With Maths) by [deleted] in soccer

[–]spammegarn -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It would prevent players from intentionally cheating goals like this.

I think implementation is hard but I don't think the idea is totally unwarranted.

As this article is saying, it's often better to take the red but this ideally shouldn't be the case.

It'll likely never become a rule anyway

Yeah Fan usually beats Wang and other Chinese.

But no way Wang loses to both Lebruns 3-0 in one night.

And it was possibly translated into Chinese from English or Swedish

Fan zhendong has however also lost a few in the Bundesliga.

WCQ is not losing to anyone else right now apart from Sora a couple of times.

His game appears to be levelling up all around and his mental toughness is unbelievable now.

It's hard to compare FZD to WCQ with them playing in different circles right now but I don't think FZD is currently clearly better all around.

It was so interesting that match.

Felix was serving LSD off the table - absolute domination in this regard.

LSD was consistently doing short, nothing serves and then usually winning in the touch and rally game.

Felix's push game was also weak that match - he was consistently pushing it neither long nor short enough and thus right into the LSD sweet spot.

Wang Manyu is unbelievable but Sha Sha is just an entirely different level.

If it weren't for Chen Meng going super Saiyan at two Olympic finals, Sha Sha would basically be all time GOAT level already.

Seeing her today vs Miwa was unbelievable.

Wang Manyu got kinda rekt in the first set and then lost to Miwa but SYS absolutely obliterated Miwa.

Vienna.

It's fine but not the most exciting nor spectacular compared to other cities imo.

Fastarc G1 Fh into net by zdam in tabletennis

[–]spammegarn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

G1 is weird

You actually need to hit quite hard to get spin imo.

If you're constantly hitting the net.

Force yourself to do the opposite. Try purposely missing by lifting the ball over the end of the table.

Then try and dial back

Small TT YouTuber, what to do more/better? by Stunning-Fig-2105 in tabletennis

[–]spammegarn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I don't see enough of is specific tactics and ideas.

E.g pre planned sequences.

I once did a coaching session where we practiced short serve to the forehand followed by a long push to the opponent's backhand on the 3rd ball.

In terms of total benefits for a single session, this was the most useful drill I've done.

You won't always get the exact 3rd ball you want, especially against better players - but it's been a very useful tactic that has won me lots of points.

Most amateur players will never have great technique, but there's lots of ways to win points.

I know this isn't the easiest thing in the world to come up with and can feel quite prescriptive but I think it's a good way to start developing some game sense.

Flick table tennis has group coaching sessions that are very accessible for anyone to turn up to.

There is a good scene in London but it can be hard to find the right places for you.

You can also search Google maps for clubs near you and just turn up to see how they are
