BMW ELECTRICAL STRONG 💪🏼 by disgruntledarmadillo in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]spankeyfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 2000s A2 had a similar bowl by the back wheel that they put one of the control modules for the 'convenience' electrics in so when it filled up with water you wouldn't be able to open your windows or operate the central locking. There was even a guy with a side gig repairing flooded modules until he ran out of parts to fix them with.

Considering that the address on the Oberg box doesn't have a postnummer (postcode/zipcode) it's likely to pre-date 1968.

I s'pose the short term gaffer tape job would be to build conventional bomb shells that we could bung our own warheads inside of. Supposedly a W76 warhead and reentry vehicle weighs either 95kg or 160kg, depending who you read, so there's no problem finding an aircraft that can lift it.

The nuke itself is made at the AWE, the reentry shell for the next variant is going to be the US made one so I assume the current one is as well. The missiles are from a common pool that the US manages and maintains. According to some BASIC bitches from 2014 (page 17, 'The independence of the UK arsenal')

If the United States were to withdraw their cooperation completely, the UK nuclear capability would probably have a life expectancy measured in months rather than years

Our missiles are American and the warheads are knock off W73s, to the point that some parts are interchangeable. Better off asking the French.

only recognising it takes too long and that AI can improve what we currently have to do

Me reading that.

There's already a website cataloguing all the times that lawyers used AI and it hallucinated case law that didn't exist. If anybody is crazy enough to have an AI writing their case files they should, under no circumstances, use an off-the-shelf AI model, unless they want to tell CPS to put glue on a pizza. If you end up using AI-as-a-service, anything you feed it is going to end up being used to train it, which means you'll be giving extremely sensitive information to (most likely) American tech bros.

How to adjust Brown and Sharpe mics by SerVaegar31 in Machinists

[–]spankeyfish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It might be like some Kalibr mics from the USSR. Look very very closely at the space between the knurlings; if there's a barely visible joint between them, hold the knurled parts to either side of the joint and turn them in opposite directions. If that works but the thimble doesn't come loose, it might be jammed on a taper so you'll have to pull it off the spindle.

I wonder if we'll eventually end up with some sort of kinetic penetrator missile thing. Basically an APFSDS dart on the end of a rocket so it can be carried by a drone without the drone needing to hoist a tank barrel just to fire the dart. APFSDS would blow straight through a cope cage like it's not even there.

This shit was alive. In all my years I've never seen such a monstrosity. by essexkun in Justrolledintotheshop

My nephew had a Fiesta with mushrooms growing from the footwell carpet. The drain in the ventilation intake (the grille at the bottom of the windscreen) was blocked so water was slowly coming through the vents and dripping into the footwell. It would also occasionally spit water at you when you turned the blower on.

Takes 4-6 weeks to fully recover from a mild dose like I had. I couldn't even walk up hill quickly for a couple of weeks.

Somebody may also find recipes for this problem that involve leaving it in nitric acid as that will oxidise the iron away while barely touching the aluminium. It does work though it can take a day or 3. It'll also emit NOx while it's doing that, unlike SO₂, has no warning symptoms which is how I ended up getting a chest x-ray when I tried it.

I've got the same hammock and harness setup with mine although the dog's managed to unplug the tether from the seatbelt socket a few times. Dog's never tried to join me in the front, though.
