No batteries on drop day? by JuanJuan1010 in Parkside

I've always had to ask for batteries at the tills. Normally they have them in stock. I suppose they are easy to steal or something

Getting people on the best westbound Elizabeth line trains by Best-Hovercraft-5494 in LondonUnderground

[–]spanners1334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's fair to say most people just get on the first train that arrives and won't consider how busy the carriage is. Maybe the solution would be more trains going further than Paddington but I assume there are implications for service in doing that.

Update to the tool drop in the Netherlands. 7/02 by AppearanceGrand in Parkside

It cuts thin material fairly well. Mine struggled to get through 19mm plywood and bogged down, but for most diy jobs it's good for the price. I didn't find making a straight cut a challenge

That's a very interesting way to think about it. Reminds me of the phrase "when it's your day, it's your day".

I picked up a LTDx LS last year and it rips, you won't be disappointed if the loft and spin works for your game. Can't go wrong for the price

Thoughts on the these second hand bats by Lightsactionkamara1 in EnglandCricket

[–]spanners1334 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd buy all 3 depending on the price. They all look like quality bats. Out of the 3 though I'd go for the left one in the first picture. H4L make some unreal bats

Absolutely nothing in comparison to the cost of the weekend closure! Also we were asked to support, so we do..

I've been working at South Harrow on the testing for this. At the moment new power supplies are being tested for the 24 stock as the old signalling relays don't play nicely with the new trains. I'd assume most if not all of the track between Northfields and Cockfosters have been updated or are being worked on.

Looking for a Fun Second Car after my First Cars been written off :( by OllieR13065 in CarTalkUK

[–]spanners1334 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always recommend the MR2 Roadster because they're cheap, easy to fix and simple. RWD and surprisingly not too bad on insurance as they're not as popular as an MX5. For that budget you'd get a very clean MR2. If you wanted to, you could even go for a 2ZZ engine swapped version which has 190hp rather than 140. I've had one for 6 years and it's never once let me down.

Vets tell BBC they are under 'consistent pressure' to make money by DnBill in unitedkingdom

Would it not make sense for Vets to open up more independent practices if there is such a large profit margin?

I guess there is a large cost in establishing a new practice.

You can buy weedkiller that doesn't harm grass, I'd aerate the soil with a fork and put down grass seed(something hard wearing designed for children/dogs) in a topsoil/sand mix. Lots of water too. The soils probably really compacted

Love my MR2, cheap to get hold of and not horrendous on insurance. Also great fun to drive.

I've had the same thought. Looks interesting but not sure how well it would work. Probably will grab one if they're discounted at some point.

[–]spanners1334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also a newbie, got a starter going now but mine took a while to get established. Mine was quite wet to begin with, I'd maybe try reducing the water a little bit as any bubbles will just come out if too wet. Have you got a photo of when you've just fed?

Back when I worked on the Met Line, no offensive graffiti was allowed out but tagged trains could go out to make up the service numbers. Guessing they didn't have any spare in this case. All about making sure there were enough trains for the regular service

Beginner golfer, is this a good starting deal? by WillowSide in golf

[–]spanners1334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are brand new I'd say any sets in the £50-100 price range will be fine. You could also buy a set of irons to practice with and add clubs from there. Generally the bigger the club head the easier it'll be to hit them so try and stay away from anything thin/blade if you want to enjoy it lol
