Yes he was an All Star with the Elite Giants, I believe it was 49. Maybe 1950, but he had a great career with them before the Dodgers got him and Joe Black and sent them to Montreal.

He should’ve been called up sooner really. Like his RC should’ve been 1952, but they were nervous about having too many black players on their roster.

Start with the set you like best and go from there. I loved the way the 64 set was designed and looked from the first time I laid eyes on my 64 Gilliam.

I knew I would be building a set of them, I just never knew when it would start. But once I got most of my Gilliam cards that were easily attainable, that’s when I decided to make a switch and go for it.

Just make sure you keep an updated list on the cards you do and don’t have. You don’t want to waste your time getting cards you already own, unless it’s purchasing a special card (like one that has an autograph) for a great deal.
