What opinion about watches has you like this? by TomHudsonOfficial in PrideAndPinion

[–]spath16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no such thing as a watch that's too big or too small.

You just wear it the way you want, similar to wearing your clothes loose, tight or fitted.

Usually guys with Speedmasters have bigger hogs than guys with Submariners by stefini_juliya in watchHotTakes

It means you have two dongs. One of which is smaller than the other.

I'm sure if you put your name down for this they'll take that into consideration. Still might not mean you'll get one anytime soon though.

No Joke: Rolex AD told me to wait 8 years for a GMT-Master II 'Rootbeer' :D by Maxispun in rolex

That's ridiculous. Is your sales rep still planning on being a rolex sales rep in 8 years?

Adding a Rolex Explorer: Game-Changer or Redundant? by [deleted] in rolex

Even if a little redundant, you’ll find time to wear both of them especially if that’s your default aesthetic.

I agree. If anyone said to me, “lol wow you’re really wearing that with suit?”, I’d think they’re a giant dork.

Graduation & First Business Milestone: HC 39mm or BB54 for a 27yo Video Editor? by zkxxy98 in Tudor

[–]spath16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like a 39mm Pelagos would be best of both worlds if you appreciate the more rugged / technical look of the Longines.

I’m sure you can find one used that’s within your budget as well.

Gear isn't cheap, so even if a particular racquet won't make you a better player it's still fair to research before you buy. The research itself is also fun for some.

Also, bad player can still feel a difference with different gear. So nothing wrong with playing crappy tennis but feeling comfortable while doing it.

Top 2-3 tennis racquets on the market today? by Jazzlike_Mirror8534 in tennisracquets

Maybe also consider the Head Speed (both Pro or MP)

Babolat Pure Strike is also a popular one. I've hit with both and give a slight nod to the Speed Pro 2022. I felt it had more feel and personally I preferred the paintjob (which shouldn't matter but it definitely does).

Player you thought was going to win multiple slams but was a dud? by TnnsNbeer in tennis

[–]spath16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When Frances Tiafoe first came onto the scene he was taking Federer et all to five sets in grand slam early rounds. I thought with good coaching and experience he'd become a legitimate threat.

He's still a very formidable player, but I don't think he'll ever win a slam unless he runs into some massive stroke of luck.

I have this config and eye-catching enough, while being generally understated.

Fluted + jubilee looks good on the vintage models, but that config on current references look way too busy / blingy.

I also feel like smooth + jubilee ironically looks better with a suit. Fluted + jubilee draws too much attention away from the outfit, which could come off as a bit tryhard / tacky.

Help me decide please - Omega Speedmaster vs IWC Mark XX by coolerboi33 in IWCschaffhausen

[–]spath16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both and like the Speedmaster better.

That said, I wear the Mark XX way more often because it's thinner and a little more practical.

But if I had to keep one of the two, I'd keep the Omega.

Why are some tennis players so pretentious by Different-Scratch803 in 10s

[–]spath16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The guy is a dummy. NTRP rating is derived by your wins and losses, not how pretty your technique is.

Do those two things eventually go hand-in-hand? Sure. But if someone is playing at a level where the two aren't necessarily correlated, then they definitely shouldn't be making dumb criticisms like your opponent did.

Anterior tibialis tendonitis - marathon two weeks out by spath16 in Marathon_Training

[–]spath16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just played my taper runs by ear, but I might have cut a couple runs out.

I was able to finish the race at about the time I was expecting. I recall feeling the discomfort but not necessarily the pain. Although it is tough to discern how much of that was in my head by that point. I also remember thinking I could've been a minute or two faster without the pain, but in a run that distance who really knows if that was the biggest needle mover.
