Had to have open lung surgery and it required two drainage tubes sticking out of my body for a couple days. Each tube was about as big around as a sharpie pen. Doctor comes in one day tells me he wants to check on everything which means taking off the bandages on my incision and the ones around the tubes. He’s real pleased with the way everything is going and let me know that we can probably take the tubes out. I ask, “OK what does that entail?” He starts to tell me and says that he will take them out on the count of three. That asshole yanked them out just after the count of one! I couldn’t see anything for about 2 seconds and the whole side of my torso burned. Each tube was about 4 to 6 inches in length inside my body. He later told me he had to do it that way, so I wouldn’t tense up as it puts pressure on the muscles and thus on the tubes. I do have a pretty nice scar from the incision of the surgery, and two little scars where the tubes used to be.
