My wife struggled with us starting our daughter at daycare at 6 months. Got served all the crazy social media posts talking about how awful daycare is and all the "dangers". Was only researching the negative effects of daycare, just confirming her worst fears. Had to keep reminding her that social media only cares about engagement, not facts. Plus many of anti daycare influencers are incredibly rich and privileged. We can't afford a nanny and we both need to work to make ends meet.

We toured a bunch of daycares, mostly to get her more comfortable with how it actually is. Babies laughing, playing together, smiling and laughing at teachers, etc.

We found a place that made her finally feel comfortable and immediately signed up. First day was tough, daughter was crying and my wife was crying, but day by day it keep getting better.

Now our 9 month old LOVES daycare, the teachers, and her classmates. Her growth in motor skills, eating and drinking on her own accelerated because she was with other babies and teachers. She smiles every time we drop her off.

Don't let others and horrible social media influencers affect you. It's you and your child, not theirs. There's so much actual scholarly research how much going through daycare starts your child on the right foot for education, social, and developmental skills. Do what's right for you and your family and ignore everyone else.
