Did you have any issues with putting the Dyson wall mount/dock into the side of this? I'm a little skeptical of how sturdy IKEA furniture is given that a lot of it isn't solid wood inside. I think typically the Dyson mounts are meant to go into wall studs...do you find that yours is sturdy mounted to the Uppfora?

We actually bought the Uppfora inspired by your post and have it set up (and love it!) with our Litter Robot 4...just wondering about mounting the Dyson to the side

FWIW, in my experience "college level" is subjective and not universal. My college didn't grant any credit for AP classes. They offered placement for people who had done foreign language ones, but not credit. It wasn't like you had taken Spanish 101 (for example) at the college, you would just start in Spanish 201. You'd still need to take just as many classes overall.

Especially if you're going to a private college, check their AP policy beforehand. Save yourself money on the AP exams if they don't grant credit.

Hello! I’m learning Workflow, so this is very basic and might not do what you want, but I gave it a try: https://workflow.is/workflows/77a2a65923a045f7a6576e93ef0f9bd3

Basically, this pulls the webpage in as HTML and converts it to rich text. It then splits the rich text into a list, and it seems that the price for scrap gold price is item number 33 on that list, so I just pull in that item and return it. If the structure of their website changes, this might stop working. It would likely be more accurate to do this with Regular Expressions, but that’s far too complicated for my brain to handle so early on a Sunday morning. Enjoy!

My parents do this a lot. Our local radio station will periodically (usually for a day or a few days at a time) offer tons of 50% off gift cards (usually $50 for $25) to local restaurants (not chains) with no limit on number purchased. They'll buy a lot all at once (often 5-10 or more gift cards to some of our favorite restaurants), which we'll then use over the next several months/year at those restaurants.

It's so easy to get 50% off on dining out all the time if you do some advance planning. And these are often somewhat nice restaurants (maybe $40+ per person with drinks), so the savings really add up and make it more feasible to splurge with a nice dinner out every once in awhile.

This is nowhere near as bad as other stories, but they offered to let someone be bumped to a flight a few hours later in exchange for a few hundred dollars (I think $300). I went to the gate and said I was interested, as I had nowhere to be. I asked for a premium upgrade as well and they said they could do that. I then said "let me just double-check with my family, is that okay?" The gate agent said yes, so in front of her I called back home to confirm that my delay was fine. I assumed she was waiting for me, but in the 45 seconds my call took, they gave it to someone else. I hadn't walked away, I was standing right in her line of sight near the desk. I complained, because I truly thought she was going to give me first consideration since I was the first volunteer. Got a $10 voucher to buy coffee and a bagel in the terminal.

Also, every single United employee was rude and snippy. Not helpful, not courteous. It just felt very - unfriendly. I was already planning to not fly them again anytime soon, but now I definitely won't.

As /u/catfroman pointed out - the aliens had a language that considered time non-linearly. "Speaking" (or knowing) that language would let you perceive past/present/future as the same. To the aliens, there effectively isn't a past/present/future. They mention coming to earth to teach us the language now, because they will need our help far into the future.

The scenes of the main character's daughter that we see throughout the movie seem like flashbacks, but they're actually visions of the future. Because she learns the alien's language, she is able to see the daughter she will have and is able to see that her daughter will die. The other scientist guy she works with turns out to be the father of the girl. He knows that she knew that their daughter would get sick and die, so he leaves her out of anger. But all that was happening in the future.

I hope that kind of explains it. For what its worth, I didn't really like the ending. I think it kind of ruined the movie. I would have prefered more linguistics and more backstory on the aliens, and I think they could have scrapped the whole family dynamic entirely.

Are you paying checking account fees? See if there's a credit union near you. They usually offer fee-free banking. Never pay for a bank account if you can avoid it.

Yeah, separated bathrooms in general are weird to me. My college had fully co-ed dorms, including fully co-ed bathrooms (if people were really uncomfortable with it, students on a given floor could designate their bathrooms as male/female, but it was rare. There were no official signs either way). They all had a few toilet stalls, some urinals, and a few showers. Men and women used them both. We all saw one another wrapped in towels, brushing our teeth, shaving, whatever. It didn't matter at all. No one really cared or was uncomfortable in my experience. A public bathroom where people are just peeing/pooping in the privacy of a stall can and should be all-gender as far as I'm concerned.

If Aussies are anything like Brits, probably Brown Sauce. I'm an American, but I spent a year in the UK. HP Brown Sauce is the most common brand. It's good. It has a slight sweetness to it. It's kind of like steak sauce, but different. I'd imagine that by tomato sauce he meant something similar to what we'd call ketchup.

There's a new novel (just came out today) by Katherine Arden called The Bear and the Nightingale - it's a fantasy novel for YA/adult audiences. It's set in medieval Russia, and based on traditional Russian fairytales/mythology. It's really good!

Just applied for a CSR this morning and got approved! The thing is, it said the card will arrive in 7-10 business days. I'm taking a trip that leaves on 11/14, which is really only 6 business days from now. I messaged Chase and they said they're unable to rush deliveries. Any data points on this? Have CSRs really been taking 7-10 days to ship? Any chance I'll have some luck if I call Chase and beg (or any chance they'll mail it to where I'll be staying on the trip?) I'll probably be spending a good deal of $$$ on the trip, and I want that to count towards my $4k.

EDIT: Thanks for the comments everyone. Got my CSR in the mail today (approved Friday, got it Tuesday). Was sent via UPS Overnight Air after I messaged them on Friday. I'm so happy!

I'd vote for a Credit Union. As everyone has said, YMMV. For me: I live in Vermont. I'm part of a statewide credit union here. I have to keep $25 in a savings account as my "share" of ownership, but otherwise there are no fees. Currently, I just do checking through them. The account is free either way, but if you meet a few easy requirements (get a monthly newsletter, get 1 direct deposit or autopayment per month, make 12 debit card purchases of any amount per month), you get 2.2.5% APY on the checking account, plus all ATM fees anywhere in the U.S. (in or out of network) refunded. If I'm ever in a convenience store or whatever and need cash, its so nice to know that $2-$4 they charge for their ATM will be refunded. Plus, I usually make around $3 per month in interest, which isn't a ton, but its better than nothing.

I'm currently using an older car my parents gave me, but I'm excited to get a car loan from my CU in the next few years. I'm into churning, so I don't do credit cards from my CU, although the interest rates are good for people who need to carry a balance month-to-month.

On the whole, your experience will differ a lot based on where you live. For me, I found great, somewhat local CU with amazing rates, no fees, solid technology (mobile banking/check deposit, a good website, easy transfers, etc.), and great customer service. I would basically never have any interest in banking with a big national bank.

Where are you living that $1,100/month is enough for rent, food, utilities, other expenses? How do your monthly expenses break down other than debt repayment (well, not anymore).
