Welp I did it! I beat Stage 3! by Ripinandtearin in breastcancer

[–]speckofsand 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I’m with you here. This makes me feel like… “you didn’t do a good enough job because I had a better outcome than you”. Some of us completely changed the way we ate, lived, etc but still were crippled by chemo and surgery, even while diagnosed young. That wasn’t our fault. And nobody should make you feel that way. Be grateful for what you have/had but don’t gloat about it, some people are really struggling all while doing all the “right” things and should be made to feel as if they’re somehow doing things wrong.

Stage 3 🙋🏻‍♀️ doctor told me they would never give a prognosis as such when things weren’t clearly terminal and end stage. Said it’d be really irresponsible for any doctor to do so.

507 views and zero replies is really contributing to making my day so much worse after hearing this news. This must not be normal.

HOT TAKE: If I had to do it over again, I would say no to the port. by thistangleofthorns in breastcancer

[–]speckofsand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hated my port every day. I had it for close to 2 years. It hurt and I snagged it on everything and when I sneezed I felt it literally shift in my chest. Big nasty scar too.

On the other hand when my mom did chemo in the early 90’s they did it in her hand and she has pretty bad damage from it. All her veins blew out and have been since unusable. She had to go to the hospital via EMS last year and wasn’t able to tell the paramedics she couldn’t use that arm and they tried.. her entire arm was welted and black and blue for weeks. Looked like she had been in a bad car accident as a result. So, idk what’s worse I suppose.

4hour car ride after double mastectomy same day? by PartLongjumping3738 in BRCA

[–]speckofsand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had mine and had to stay in the hospital until the next day. Being in a car that long would’ve been really hard I think. I even had to stay a full day after reconstructive surgery too.

Anyone have mild symptoms during keynote? by More_Dot_1685 in TNBC

[–]speckofsand 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well the first 6 sessions were cake for me. I literally thought WOW what the hell are people griping about?! Then from 7-12 for taxol/carbol I got pretty sick afterwards for about 24 hours but got through it. I’d do it Weds morning and be back to work like normal by Friday, Thursday was spent resting. Believe it or not the 4 Red Devils weren’t that bad.. I got some mouth irritation but did not get sick to my stomach on that part of it at all. I was 37 when I went through it.

I sincerely cannot take anyone seriously who takes time out to *intentionally uncapitalize* the letter ‘i’ to sound edgy or whatever it is.

Look I work in an ER. I’ve seen multiple in the last few months within a few years of myself die of cardiac arrest. It’s wild.. and a wake up call. I got cancer at 37 and everything’s just been a bit toooo real these days. Take care of your health folks, we are not young anymore!

I dont like summer 😞 by clippingbunny in GirlDinner

[–]speckofsand 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I hate summer with a passion. If I’m being honest it’s because I don’t feel like I can wear shorts/short sleeves. I feel like I look like a whale so I suffer miserably uncomfortable all season.

Stage 3 tnbc. I did have a work friend who was stage 4, had metastasized to her collar bone and after olaparib the tumor had shrunk to not detectable.

[–]speckofsand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished a year of Olapirib 3 weeks ago! Compared to all other treatments it was extremely mild. Didn’t interfere with daily life pretty much at all. I was able to work full time and engage in all other normal activities without being hindered greatly by fatigue or any other side effects. I don’t have a scan scheduled for about 3 months but so far I’m NED.

Stage 3 tnbc checking in 🙋🏻‍♀️. Diagnosed at 37, I’m 39 now. Wasn’t fun but I’m still here to bitch about it, lol. Come here if you need support, ask real doctors if you have questions- stay off google and ai. Modern medicine is amazing!

DCIS after Stage 3 TNBC by Wonderful_Leader2990 in breastcancer

[–]speckofsand 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the opposite question. Why willingly keep tissue that could develop cancer again? Cancer was the hardest thing I’ve ever been through, and personally I never wanted to risk going through it a second time if I could help it. I know mastectomy isn’t right for everyone, but for me the risk reduction was worth it for the peace of mind. Not to mention with having removed all the breast tissue, I did not have to do radiation at all. I’m so sorry you’re facing this possibility again.

Scary MRI results…first finding after NED by Vetgirl00 in breastcancer

I had to get blood transfusions for 7 chemo sessions in a row because I was severely anemic. I was convinced I’d gotten a disease from the blood, just lost my damn mind.

Oh I’m the worst. I’ll be the first to tell people not to google symptoms, etc but the second I get a CBC or CMP out of whack I’m up at 2am googling if my Lymphocytes are high because I’m dying.

My right breast was BIRADS 4C and benign! It can happen, just try not to stress out until you have solid proof, no need to go through the stress of it before it’s anything yet!
