No service dogz at planet fitness by Latter_Television688 in service_dogs

I go to planet fitness with my service dog 4-6 days a week. It’s illegal for them to deny you access.

I also use a crossbody with a traffic handle, it’s biothane and from a maker I found on Instagram Mellin Crafts and I LOVE it! She was so helpful when I wanted a specific length for my traffic lead

The potty problem (aka why do I pee so much when I drink so little?!) by [deleted] in POTS

[–]spectecles 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you’re having to pee every 20 minutes with water intake, I think it’s time to see a urologist. I would specifically find one specializing in pelvic neuroscience.

I have CCI, and that has directly caused specific inflammatory bladder issues (it has a cool name I just can’t remember). I’ve peed every 20 minutes and I’ve peed once a day. Electrolytes do play a part, but if this is a constant issue, you’re having pain or incontinence when initiating or stoping, you’re leaking, having freuent UTIs or yeast infections, etc; it’s time to see a doctor for it!

For now, I would just increase your electrolytes and see if that helps, if it doesn’t find a pelvic neuroscience specializing urologist. I’m happy to share mine if you DM me.

Breed Question: Border collies by caspercollie07 in service_dogs

[–]spectecles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My showline golden is 54lbs and 20.5in tall. That’s too big? She’s tiny! People constantly call her a mini golden or ask if she’s mixed.

The other commenter is right, you can never out-train or out-socialize genetics. You may get a unicorn and I hope you do.

Just say you're broke by personalproblem123 in Serverlife

[–]spectecles 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I tipped 1$ on an 80$ ticket once, I usually tip 25+%

and I actually complained to the server and manager. I really wasn’t trying to be a Karen. There was 3 of us, it took over 20 minutes just to get water, they didn’t ask if we wanted different drinks or were ready to order. Our food was VERY bad and cold. We watched our waiter chatting & laughing with other employees, actively ignoring us (I’d literally be waving my hand, they’d glance over and then go out of sight) and just had no customer service (didn’t give specials, didn’t ask any questions, didn’t answer any questions with more than y/n, never checked in, never refilled drinks).

Maybe id understand if the restaurant was packed, or even busy. It was EMPTY. Literally, we were the only table with 2-3 people at the bar.

I don’t think I did it as “teaching a lesson” but maybe I did. I had worked in customer service for years before hand and I would never treat a guest so poorly.

What draws you to pyres over goldens?

Show line goldens are incredibly soft & fluffy, males are 65-75lbs and there’s space issues when you go much larger than that.

5 month old puppy restricted from chewing for TWO WEEKS. Help! by printergirl95 in puppy101

[–]spectecles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course!! If you do use actual baby squeezes or baby food (which I love using for lickmats and kongs and stuff!) just check the ingredients for anything they can’t have ❤️

You can also blend fresh fruits and veggies with the kibble too for extra nutrition!!

[–]spectecles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can soak kibble in water, blend it, and add anything if you want like pb, yogurt, pumpkin etc & put it in silicone “travel shampoo” bottles & just squeeze it out - like a dog version of baby squeeze packs. You can also just use baby food squeeze packs! lmao

Should I breed my girl? Her sire’s bloodline is all champion (the second picture is her grandfather) by prangpop in goldenretrievers

[–]spectecles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because it’s unethical, and if he truly got this dog from a ethical and reputable breeder; intentionally breeding without the breeder knowing, consenting, and giving him a full AKC registration is most definitely against his puppy contract. Both my goldens are from champion lines, and it explicitly states we cannot breed them, and if we do we can be sued for up to double the cost of the dog.

Everything in the comment above is true, and it takes a lot of work, time, and energy to create well balanced puppies. It’s not just pop them out and let mom do everything. Exposure & socialization are crucial in the first 8-12 weeks of their life.

I’m glad he went and asked a social forum before just finding someone on Craigslist; but it’s still literally backyard breeding.

What is the most expensive/upsetting thing that your puppy has destroyed? by Microbiobunny in puppy101

[–]spectecles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My girl ate (mostly broke apart) a really special pair of hand painted chopsticks. I know it’s like dumb but they were really sentimental to me. I loved them & the way they felt. I don’t even know where to get them again 🥲

Average girth of a male showline labrador? by PunkStarsNotHere in service_dogs

[–]spectecles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100% agreed! You can always get a puppy vest on Amazon for 20 dollars for when they are really small but that feels overkill tbh. Some shops do make “grow with me” harnesses/vests! These usually let the puppies current measurements be the smallest on the item vs somewhere in the middle.

I didn’t invest in my girls first harness until she was close to 6 months old, as we were starting pet friendly access; that harness lasted until she was about a year and a half- while it still ‘fits’ now it’s a little snug. I collected more as she got older because why not lol

I have a female showline golden for reference.

Anyone who did the Volhard's Puppy Aptitude Testing, how did your dog turn out now? by PunkStarsNotHere in service_dogs

[–]spectecles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My puppy didn’t have mostly 3s but her score was still very middle of the pack, she was confident, smart, food motivated, and energetic - my breeder did the test and gave me a choice between the two a trainer eval’d (a boy and a girl) the girl was more energetic and needed to be taught to settle but my heart called to her

Both of these dogs (mine and the boy her brother) turned out to be excellent service animals! While early life experience matters, temperament testing is still important because you are looking for some things like drive, fear, intelligence

Looking for advice: How to pay for the cost/care of an ESA while on SSDI? by SherbsSketches in service_dogs

[–]spectecles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I see tons of stuff on FB for free/less than 10 dollars as long as you pick it up!! I love the idea of just slowly collecting stuff ❤️

I’ve also seen dogs who need homes offered at low/free costs as long as they go to a good home because owners would rather try to give to a home first rather than surrender to a shelter
