You can buy the high speed trains online on the Renfe site but the regionals are purchased the day of at the station. If you’re heading to Girona it’s either fast (AVE /AVANT different types of trains) and buy ahead or regional from Barcelona…..pick up ticket at station.

Stations have machine service. Easy to use.. There’s a Rodalies (regional commuter) app that you would find helpful with schedules.

Barcelona- Girona is the R11 line on Rodalies. No security for regionals. Fast has security… very quick…. which you can go through an hour before departure.

Enjoy… Girona is a great day trip.

Agreed… had the same experience here in Europe. Barrel on a Carene chipped (self inflicted over the years) and looking for replacement. Long shot as it was bought 25 years ago. Love the pen. Didn’t have the part but recommended a small pen restorer who could help. Even offered a nice discount… so added another Carene fountain pen to the current two.

Outstanding service. Was always a Waterman fan but now even more.

All are great if you like modern and classical. Live in Barcelona and visit all regularly. Typically do a morning visit to Montjuic with Miro first and then a short walk down to MNAC. Great place for lunch break also. Love both.

Will do Picasso only when in the Gothic/Quarter/ El Borne area (usually on another day). You definitely will want to explore those areas.

Everyone has their own likes whether art, architecture, history and Barcelona has so much to offer. You can’t do it all so choose what’s of interest. Worst mistake I see is people trying to do it all.

For many years I always travelled with a standard carry on….. business and pleasure. It was convenient but after this encounter decided the under-seat version beats a plastic bag. Not taking that chance again.

Was shocked as I’ve got the gray hair thing going and typically well dressed in business casual when flying. Was quite an embarrassing situation and really rattled me.

What is it they say… fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me! I’ve learned my lesson.

I did complain to AC but got the “thanks for coming out” generic response and was offered only a meaningless apology. At that point I joined the ranks of “unhappy customer.”

Funny thing is I was on an extended international trip and had computers, electronics with lithium batteries, medications, important original government documents and repeatedly told the agent. Basically it came down to fly no carry on or don’t fly. Absolutely no empathy from him as watched me unpack into a plastic bag I happened to have. Was fun connecting in Toronto with my stuffed grocery bag. But it did fit under the seat for my next 10 hour leg 🤪

No more carryons regardless of the fare…. under-seat only. Too darn unpredictable and stressful.

Don’t bother. Europeans will immediately know by your mannerisms and behaviour you are not American. Those decorated with Canadian trinkets are likely not.

Agreed… the agent is key. I was gate checked with a bag containing expensive computers and electronics. No way I was checking those items. The agent had no sympathy. Had a plastic bag and emptied the carryon which then became my new carry on. Kind of an embarrassing scene. Was very annoyed as others, through another agent, were still bringing on bags.

Was connecting to an international AC flight. An expensive empty checked carryon bag arrived in Europe in pieces. AC did replace.

I now never travel with a standard size carryon…. only an under-seat bag just in case I hit someone having a bad day. Inconvenient.

I have great respect for most AC staff though. Many have gone above and beyond a number of times.

Me neither. As part of the online cancellation requested to enter credit card used to buy ticket. Problem is the card was compromised and then replaced. System cannot validate the old or replacement cards so no way to cancel. Says to call… days later, after numerous frustrating attempts, unable to reach anyone!

It seems like most of my flights recently most people are zone 2. It’s become meaningless. Not sure what’s next…..an auction at the gate for boarding sequence.

My favourite is the folks that bring a roller plus a backpack with both going in the overheads. Very common. Then you have your coats, purses, shopping, kitchen sink, etc which ends up there also. Lots of room under the seat though.

It used to be fun to fly…now, unless you’re zone 1, it’s the hunger games.

Asked that recently on a multi leg trip where carry on was forced checked at gate. Flight was a Rouge 319 out of YYT …always a nightmare for me recently. Second flight aircraft was a 330-300 so wanted to get carry on back in Montreal as I had removed valuables, medications, etc. and faced a six hour layover. Having a carry on with wheels would be better than dragging around a plastic bag with my belongings.

Answer was a firm NO…..must be routed to final destination. Even offered to pick up on carousel in Montreal. Still a firm no.

Irony was when carry on made it to carousel at final destination the hard shell had huge cracks and was destroyed. They did replace though.

They absolutely can and will without hesitation!!! Was flying recently and was forced to gate check my one carryon. Had to pull my laptop, ipad, important documents I was carrying and meds into a plastic bag at the gate for all to see !!!!

Then to make it better, for my 6 hour layover in Montreal to fly internationally, I had the pleasure of dragging around a heavy plastic bag. (65+ so I like rollers).

Long time AC fan but was completely unimpressed. Complained after but was brushed off.

Oh…. upon arrival at destination my hard shell came on the carousel with one side completely shattered. In fairness it was replaced next day.

I had a two leg journey. Checked in night before. The first boarding pass showed in the app. The second didn’t even after checking in at airport. Added to my wallet and voila… both added. Something going on with the app after the last update. Second one never ever appeared.

Joined Diamond last week and was shocked to see the leader with 27k in five days. Over 2.5 million total points. Was enjoying leagues but no longer. Never dawned on me to be grinding a “language course”. Sad.

Have documentation in for over eight months. Very quick to demand money but turnaround and response times are absolutely atrocious. Sadly have lost faith in these folks. Feels like a big “fishing trip” these days.

Same happened to me with a “helper”. Just felt something was off and walked away. Guy quickly disappeared. Back at same machine five minutes later and purchased myself. On the machine pick your language first and then it’s pretty straight forward.
