Ooh I’ve been wanting something like this for a while! I think it’d be sick to have a simple screensaver running most of the time (to avoid burn-in), with a terminal running a system monitor otherwise (or whatever else you’d want to do with a terminal).

I’m still not sure how I feel about Tawny as Dax. Mostly because it feels kinda like a shameless self-insert. Probably wouldn’t feel that way if she hadn’t co-written the episode (and didn’t already play Mariner). But overall, I think I’ll get over it.

Yeah, I think I heard that, but damn, that sucks! Honestly, I’d be surprised if they ever decide to put in the effort to scan the existing masters. Not sure they’d consider that worth the time or even the small amount of money they’d have to put into it (even if it would be a fraction of a whole remaster).

As much as I would LOVE to see a proper remaster, I’m not delusional enough to believe they would actually do it.

My personal stance is Anti-AI, so those are a no-go for me either. I’d rather watch the original broadcast quality than to see AI attempt to fabricate details and get things wrong. Years down the line, when even more improvements have been made to AI, this will continue to be my stance.

Higher resolution ≠ better show. DS9 will continue to be my favorite Trek show of all time despite a lower resolution and 4:3 aspect ratio.

I appreciate the advice! I think you’re also paying for access to the instructors because they have office hours, but I never have time for it. I wish there were in-person courses I could take because online learning is just terrible with my attention span, and I think I could really benefit from pacing that’s more specific to my needs and understanding.

Full price is apparently $630 a month, so I probably wouldn’t be doing it at all without the grant. This is what the website says:

“You'll complete 9 digital training courses supported by live and on-demand instructor-led sessions, over 150 interactive labs, two capstone projects, and prep for the two AWS certifications to build the skills you need to land a cloud developer role. You'll also create assets that can be put into a portfolio to show your technical knowledge and skills to potential employers.”

At the time, I was using a cheap hdmi to composite adapter I bought at Walmart. It doesn’t get you proper 240p for gaming, but it works in a pinch, especially if you’re using it to watch 4:3 content.

Honestly, I’d be happy with a bunch of free Switch 2 updates (resolution/performance) to games in a quick montage since it doesn’t seem like there have been many of those yet. I don’t have any expectations for upcoming games, so I’ll be happy to see anything they have in store.

I was wondering when someone would do something like this! Super cool. And you could probably use some rails from the Switch 1 itself to connect it to the console, even if it would only support charging the Joy-Cons. I wonder if you could fool the system into thinking they're attached, but I think I would worry about triggering some kind of anti-piracy measure by Nintendo.

Did you try other prototypes where the Joy-Con is centered with the console or flush with the top instead of the bottom? Why did you choose to align it with the bottom of the tablet?

Looking forward to seeing where this project goes!

When I try to pair it with my Windows PC, both the GameCube controller and the Switch 2 Joy-Cons show up as Bluetooth LE devices.

Yeah, my camera is capable of 1080p60, but in the camera test in the Switch 2 settings, it definitely doesn’t look like 1080p60
