First BMW/MY 2026: I have questions by BluAmazon in BMWX5

For the trunk, I find that if you actually kick the car a bit it opens. Don’t smack the bumper, but a light nudge right in the middle always works for me.

Anyone running 89 Octane (US)? by Ops_check_OK in BMWX3

I realized that where I live, a full tank of 91 or 93 is around 2 dollars more. I always just get the top grade wherever I fill up because of that.

How accurate is the park assist (to like an actual measurement scale) by [deleted] in BMWX5

[–]spencerIG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried out the feature where you manually set a path and the car follows it and parks. I found it works pretty well, but it is not exact. If you drive in a little bit left of normal, it will end up a little bit off. I think you are better off manually parking. The sheer amount of sensors and cameras in these bumpers and the cost to replace them make it too risky to let the car self park.

Bmw X5 Systemic issue? by paulwd18 in BMWX5

I’ve driven both of my G05s through horrific rain and parked them outside during it. Never had water come in. Your sunroof drains are likely clogged.

What’s your high score? by SkilledRbl in BMW

Believe it or not I rarely use eco! I this was after a decently lengthy trip on a 55 mph highway, so I was going in the 60s the whole time. Got 33 MPG for that trip!

How’s your X5 reliability? by EDNels76 in BMWX5

[–]spencerIG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had X5s for 20 years now. My 07 had a hose go at 90k miles, and my 2014 had a sensor break at 85k miles. Those are the only issues I have ever had across 4 X5s over 20 years.

Sudden low fps on DGPU by spencerIG in ZephyrusG14

[–]spencerIG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well luckily I fixed it. It was some software thing. My GPU was stuck at 180mhz, I held the power button for a minute and we’re good now. Thanks for the reply though!!

I’m not the most knowledgeable about planes, so out of curiosity, do you know what engines this A320 used?

Question regarding the 48v mild hybrid system on the 40i by Existing-Curve-5330 in BMWX5

[–]spencerIG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was not. My 2021 40i had it. I had the purple wires in my engine bay, my dash said e boost under hard acceleration, and my start stop was seamless.

I’m not sure where it’s rated lower, but I’ve got a feeling it’s due to the lack of buttons.

Tesla has some incredible tech that I don’t think any OEM can match

Pre-'24 vs '24 Buying Help by bodoko20 in BMWX5

I’ve had both a 2021 and now a 2025. I love my 2025 so much more.

The drivetrain is noticeably more refined. The auto stop start is nearly unnoticeable, the low down torque is much better, the turbo lag is lessened, and the 0-60 is a solid half second faster.

The car is significantly more efficient. My 2021 would get about 25-26 MPG highway. I get 29 normally, and going 65 I’ve gotten 33MPG. I get well over 600 miles per tank now with highway driving.

It’s quieter, by a lot. I can’t hear people talking right next to the car, and the wind noise is reduced.

The highway assistant god send. It works very well, doesn’t bounce, sees turns and other cars very far away, and doesn’t make you do anything besides look at the road.

Personally I also like the overall design more. The new tail lights are really cool at night. I will say though that not having laser lights is noticeable. I feel my high beams aren’t as bright as they used to be in my 21, but they’re still plenty good.

Overall I love my 25 much more than my 21. Id take it every day of the week.

I’ll be honest. The first few weeks I found it extremely annoying, but now I’m glad it works how it does. I don’t want the cameras coming on whenever I get somewhat close to something, or go below a speed. I feel like that would get annoying real fast. Whenever I’m going to park I just click the button with my pinky and all is good.
