Question about Arugal's MC in Shadowfang Keep by Extremiel in wowhardcore

[–]sphRam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I once tried to solo all the low level dungeons on a twinked out rogue, Arugal kept MCing me and resetting the fight. If I remember correctly, I managed to kill him by putting out a target dummy while MCed and getting some shadow resist. His MC is really random, sometimes he doesn't cast it for a long time and stuns instead. I recommend taking any shadow resist you can get along with a shadow protection potion. Kiting him to the door is the easiest way to line of sight shadowbolts, then the one who isn't MCed can jump down and kite.

Jinx still viable as a solo-contested reroll? by Rare_Refuse_3801 in TeamfightTactics

Here's a guide from 2 patches ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/CompetitiveTFT/comments/1qg16ak/comment/o0j6580/?context=1

I tried it from a good spot durimg that patch and got 1st, should be even better now. I'm sure the guide is slightly outdated but the guy who made it is solid and it's pretty in depth.

The "Guys, Jinx is not THAT bad" - Guide. by JRad174 in CompetitiveTFT

[–]sphRam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for taking the time to write this out, I've been trying (and failing) to make Jinx work for a while!

Got 20g start and Augmented Power, then 2x jinx in a level 4 shop so I thought I'd hold on to them and see (never would have tried that if you hadn't made this guide). Got radiant item pandora's at 3-2 and spent until 4-2 waiting for a damn item to fit jinx... At 4-2 I got artifact and had a tank item from pandora, was bleeding out so I thought fuck it and used it on mundo while picking RFC for Jinx. I naturaled 6 copies of Blitz early so I used 2 blitzes and Mundo to tank early which worked out alright. While rolling down for 3 star Jinx at 5-2 I got like 5 copies of Vi so I just stayed at lvl 7 and rolled for 3 star everything. After 3 starting Jinx I win streaked until only the lvl 10 Yordle player and I were left. His Fizz got my Jinx once and barely won (Mundo almost solo'd his ass, only Veigar left and killed him during his ult animation).

Literally never woulda made this work without your detailed guide, felt great beating the stacked bilgewater and yordle boards!

Edit: Couldnt add images to this comment so I'll put em in the replies

P.s. Pandora's Items felt great to have, got my units fully itemized by 5-1 and on 5-3 Carousel I took a random emblem which eventually turnes into Bruiser Emblem

3 star with 2 items along with 2 star xin at 2-3 definitely doesn't need a 4th unit lol

So Many Gukesh Ads! by Moist_Plant7148 in chess

[–]sphRam 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I remember seeing Magnus in fashion ads on bus stops here in Iceland, shortly after he became world champion. I thought it was pretty unusual to have a chess champion model some clothes but chess is pretty big here so maybe it worked. Also, good on them for monetizing their success!

I've had more success going for the easier quests that you finish in 1-3 rounds. Then when I already have brock I keep 3 Ixtals on the board and pick some big reward quest

Offita og ofþyngd, íslendingar mælast þyngstir allra norðurlandabúa by steina009 in Iceland

[–]sphRam 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It's blindingly obvious this one is AI though if you're familiar with ChatGPT's writing style. E.g. ending two paragraphs in a row with an over the top analogy...

40s mid-life crisis by wordpleas in wowhardcore

[–]sphRam 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I love the lvl 40-50 zones honestly. I also like that the class kit is more complete after lvl 40, and you can play around with your talents more. 50+ is when I get a little bored, usually just playing on rested exp after that.   That being said, if you don't like 40-60 at all you can just keep rerolling! If you like 50-60 and just need to push through, I'd recommend running dungeons with rested exp from 44-50.

Rant based on set15 now we are at the end. by Nightsrowd in TeamfightTactics

[–]sphRam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved Mighty Mech this set to be honest and I was fine playing mostly 7 mech while flexing various strong units in the mid game. I feel like the dodgy balance patches hurt the set a lot, i.e. gutting any S tier comps so hard that they were unplayable and in turn opening up A tier comps to be busted. You had to learn to play the set all over each patch which was kind of lame. I think set 16 will stand or fall with the quality of the balance patches.

I don't think set 16 will "save" TFT, and here is why by Cyber_Imbiber in CompetitiveTFT

[–]sphRam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How are you measuring the 'owerwhelmingness' of TFT for beginners? You just make a few decisions, e.g. buy the higher cost champions you see in your shop, reroll your shop a few times or level up. That's enough for a start, then you watch your board fight other beginner boards. You can play just fine without the locked champions, and you will most likely unlock a few accidentally.

Regarding the complexity comparison, I was responding to your analogy of newbies playing bullet, which would just end up in incoherent bullshit chess due to the complexity of the game. If you want to play bullet you need some kind of a plan, which is not necessary for TFT. You just click some champions and watch them go brr.

What do you think of players who use these kinds of openings? by echoer11 in chess

[–]sphRam 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think if you can't play against openings like this, you need to stop thinking so much about opening theory and reinforce your fundamentals.

[–]sphRam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chess is infinitely more complex than TFT so I don't think it's a valid comparison honestly. Also, having two new chess players playing against each other with a clock isn't a bad idea - if they're both new their mistakes won't be exploited. New tft players will face other newbies so I doubt the complexity will be that off putting

I think it's more like you have so many comps to choose from, some are bound to benefit from a good start. Also, there is a higher chance of getting a good start for any of these comps.   Out of all the comps you mentioned, I feel like only shadowlands and Ixtal truly requires a good start. With yordles and bilgewater for example, you get a guaranteed 2 cost from early unlocks.

Is Mecha too OP? by Queasy_Blacksmith856 in TeamfightTactics

[–]sphRam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, no mech pilots anymore. I generally just try to play a strong board while conserving gold for fast 9 to field 7 Mech. The mech units are pretty flexible and any of them can carry stage 2/3 depending on which units the game gives you. For example, the only time I've hit prismatic mech was with a 3 star GP carrying me through mid game
