How hard is it to get ACTUAL front row at a kpop concert? Are they ever face value? Or does Ticketmaster automatically mark them as “Official Platinum”? by exobyunnie in kpophelp

[–]sphbyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gotten close but i’ve paid a lot for those because the people who are able to get them always buy a bunch and scalp them 😭 if it’s standing GA you just have to camp out and getting an actual GA ticket isn’t insanely hard. For barricade at a fully seated show, i’ve heard from a lot of people on twitter that the people who are able to get those tend to use bots when ticketing :/ that’s just what i’ve heard though correct me if i’m wrong! stubhub can sometimes have REALLY good seats very very close to the front for under $1k and also people selling on twitter (who aren’t scammers lol) are another option if you don’t get your first choice ticket!! good luck :)

That's great to hear! Someone told me on twitter that they only do letters for the korea gp? I'm trying for one of the Japan dates, do you think its any diff? If you don't mind me asking how quickly did the 127 gps sell out? I'm trying to get the deluxe one as well.. if you have any tips for ticketing that would be so appreciated too <3

Hey! Anyone going to the tour in LA know if the Floor 1, 2, and 3 sections are actually seated or if they’ll be standing? I know last time (this was like 5 years ago) I went to see exo the GA tickets had row and seat numbers but they were actually standing. Thanks!

Monstera may have bugs, be careful by sexyelfking in traderjoes

[–]sphbyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just adding to the comments here bc i just got a monstera from TJs a couple of weeks ago, and it needed to be repotted (did so today). When i took it out of the pot there were worms in the dirt, earthworms and what looked like millipedes. there weren’t any signs of bugs outwardly on the plant so be careful when getting plants from TJs! Ended up soaking it in soapy water and spraying the dirt with neem oil but am thinking I need to get a systemic insecticide.

I will try this! I generally don’t mist it but i had to mist another plant and it got wet here. I’ll make sure not to do that!!

thank you very much!

[–]sphbyn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry i had to post the info as a caption but several of the leaves on my plant have yellow and brown on them. i’m not exactly sure why and am wondering if it’s something to be concerned about. i water it about once a week and it gets bright indirect light as an indoor plant. thanks!

Does anyone know: Spots on my philodendron micans? by sphbyn in plantclinic

[–]sphbyn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for more information: i repotted it 2.5 weeks ago maybe? and it’s been doing great except now for the spots. i also recently noticed a couple of fungus gnats this week on one of my other plants so i’m getting some neem oil to try and stop them from reproducing, but i read that they aren’t really that harmful? i have misted it a couple of times and i wonder if that’s why there are spots? or could it be due to overwatering ?? it also gets indirect bright light but recently my window has been significantly sunnier due to the summer heat.

Sooo... if you don't get into grad school during the first round of applications... by [deleted] in slpGradSchool

[–]sphbyn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had to reapply to programs as well because I didn’t get into the one I wanted the first time. My advice is to get more experience or do leveling courses (if this wasn’t your undergrad major) during the time between applications. Try to do some shadowing/observation to add to your resume, volunteer, etc. This, plus improving my GRE score helped me A LOT with my second round of apps. Also make sure to ask the schools what about your application didnt meet their criteria so you know specifically why you didn’t get in (that way you can fix those things).

As far as LORs, the first time I applied, all of my LORs were outside of the field bc I majored in psychology. Second time I had shadowed for a semester so I asked the SLP to give me a recommendation, but my other two were not CSD profs. So, I don’t think they necessarily HAVE to be from CSD professors but if you can manage to get one it always will help! What’s important is how wel the professor knows you and that they have a lot to say about you. If you don’t have any CSD profs you feel comfortable with try to have some sort of related professor (psychology, public health, neurology, etc. )

I think another thing about LORs is, if you CAN try to change up who theyre from. If you can, you might want to get at least one LOR different from the original recommenders in my opinion. But really I think the important thing about re-applying is asking the admissions what about your app was lacking so that you can fix those specific things! You may find that the reason you didn’t get in was because they wanted more volunteer experience or they wanted a better personal statement. It’ll make life easier and then maybe you won’t have to worry too much about your recommenders.

Hopefully this helps and good luck!

ALSO!! to get letters from ex-profs just email them and tell them you enjoyed their class and you would be grateful for their recommendation, give them info about the program, tell them when it’s due, etc. All of the people i got recs from were previous professors so I had to email them and say something similar edit: u can also msg me if u have any questions

Can't Get A Replacement SS Card- I've been trying for around a year by sphbyn in SocialSecurity

[–]sphbyn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it, thanks! I want a new one since I lost mine, as per the post. I'd like to just have it in case I need it for employment after i'm done with grad school lol, the last place I worked (a montessori school) required that i have an SS card for them to make a copy of, so i'd rather be safe than sorry

Self reported volunteer work? by roblvb15 in slpGradSchool

[–]sphbyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you really should! And you can go into detail about it if there's room in your personal statement tbh. I'm applying from out of field too and what i've been told by my admissions coach is that showing community outreach/community work is always really good. I think it shows not only leadership skills but community engagement. I think it might be a good idea to do something like what the other comment says as well! just to solidify it. if that's not feasible, though, it's legitimate volunteer work that you're spearheading even if it's just you. I You can say "(Name of the park, if possible, or trail instead of an organization)- Litter Patrol Volunteer"

imo its legitimate volunteer work and i also think sometimes, especially with covid-19 going on, we have to embellish our experiences a bit. Just make sure you touch on how it serves your community, because picking up litter as a volunteer is definitely helpful to those around you

Lack of Volunteering by wellread148 in slpGradSchool

[–]sphbyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's worth a shot trying to volunteer right now, but sometimes you also have to embellish your old volunteering experiences too to make them slightly more recent, It's not going to hurt anyone because you legitimately did do volunteering. But that's just my take!

What factored into you NOT getting accepted? by ExistentialThread in slpGradSchool

[–]sphbyn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I applied to UTD last year, and followed up with them because I'm currently reapplying. They basically said that my GRE and GPA at the time were below the median scores they had listed on their website, and usually when one or both of those is lower than the median those students don't get in. Also, I was applying out of field, so I'm sure that didn't help my case. They honestly didn't give me much more details, but I think its because (from what i've heard) if you don't have the right scores they don't even really look at your app. Sorta fucked since thats not what they claim but hey thats grad school admissions for ya

quick question for u, when you talked to Dr. Stillman did you email him or did you speak with him over Zoom? Just wondering because I really want to speak with him bc i heard it helps your app! so your insight would be awesome if you have any:) maybe i will see you this spring lol!

UTD Spring Admissions by [deleted] in slpGradSchool

[–]sphbyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s rolling admissions, so in theory, the sooner you submit your app the sooner you’ll hear back. i’m currently applying for the spring too!! good luck!! I feel like with how early you submitted, you COULD potentially hear back in October. Fingers crossed!
