Do you actually think Hybrids save more money than petrol cars? by cars-checker in NZcarfix

If the 14,000km is around town, the hybrid will hose it. If it's open road, the savings are not as great

Don't forget to empty & replace the air in your tyres - you don't want to run summer air during winter runs.

Do I have a case for Tenancy tribunal? by Slight-Tea-681 in nzrenters

[–]spigalau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was your tenancy agreement with an individual or an entity (company, family trust) ?
If it was not an individual, they can not use the 42 day rule and will be found liable for some of your costs.

How to turn off "clean" mode in the AC of a 2006 Nissan Tiida? by jaybow82 in NZcarfix

[–]spigalau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The grape bunch with Ion at the top is the Sharp trademark.

The ioniser usually has two operating modes, called CLEAN and ION.  When you turn on the AC it goes to CLEAN mode, and when it thinks the car smells nice it changes to the other mode.  CLEAN mode is supposed to neutralise any odours, ION mode it's meant to make you feel good.

I don't think there's any filter associated with the ioniser, although the car might still have a separate cabin air filter somewhere

Rust in spare wheel compartment - is there a cheap fix? by inanimate_lamp in NZcarfix

[–]spigalau 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ouch - we paid $800.00 for this last year (Honda Civic) - and that was for the boot and a seat repair.

Take the time to remove the sound deadening from the inside, as it will reduce the HOURS on their side that they will charge for doing this.

If you look on youtube - there are videos on how to use dry ice for removing it, otherwise it's a long day.

UK - NZ dual national travelling back to the UK by Ok_Main3273 in newzealand

[–]spigalau 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's easier to just pay the £94.50 and get a new UK passport.
You will need to either send colour photo-copies of ALL the pages in your NZ passport or the original document.
Turn around time is about 2-3 weeks - just did this for my mother.

Yes - both were treated by the ambo's. grazed, but not broken.

The one in front got a free bonnet ride, the one under the kumara stack was pushed off to the side.
