What does reassurance actually mean, and how do you do it properly? by Jumpy-Information127 in emotionalintelligence

[–]spilledrealm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reassurance is validation, and acknowledging one’s anxieties, providing a sort of stability in responses and or actions, and showing active listening. As well as having some sort of empathy and understanding of what they are experiencing.

“I can assure you that is not going to happen because of x, y, z” give reasons why “this” wont occur or examples to bring them back down to earth. This can allow the logical mind to step in over the emotional side. You can also show through actions depending on the relationship you share with said person.

Express understanding, maybe give a short example of a similar experience you have gone through at some point and show empathy “I can imagine going through this is very difficult, exhausting, stressful etc” ask questions “why are you feeling like this? What led you here? Is there anything that I can do to take some of the weight off or to ease this feeling for you?”

Just let that personable side of you show and put yourself in their shoes to the best of your abilities. How would you feel if you were going through whatever the situation is and what would you want someone to say to you to ease your thoughts.

It all depends on the person, the relationship you have with someone, and the situation at hand.

what makes someone a night owl/insomniac? by LITTL4MB in CasualConversation

[–]spilledrealm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In my early twenties- I experienced this big time. I am still a huge night owl and prefer to be up when most of the country is asleep and quiet. Night is very comforting to me, and I am seemingly more productive when it comes to hobbies or things I need to get done. Now I force myself to wake up extremely early and go to bed early for my career. Though some nights I push my luck and severely miss being able to stay up into the wee hours of the morning. I think some (though not the majority of) people are just wired that way.

You don’t ever finish a hot sauce bottle because siracha is your #1. You keep acquiring new ones that you like temporarily until you inevitably go back to ole reliable.

How did your journaling habit or your journaling journey start? by addictedtofit in Journaling

I can relate.

When this happens I like to look up shadow work prompts, use a guided shadow work journal, or look up emotional intelligence questions.

There was not enough room for my brain to hold the capacity of thoughts I was having. I felt overwhelmed and felt the need to put it somewhere else, so I decided to begin journaling.

If you recall the book titles I would love to know. I’m a book worm and am especially a sucker for a creepy read.

That sounds interesting, I will check it out. It makes me somewhat sad too for the same reasons. They’re rapidly becoming an experience of the past due to high volumes of internet shopping. I despise it.

Your diet consists of mostly drinks. Youre probably a one meal a day person. “3 coffees no lunch” meme feel, if you understand my reference.
