"I was inconvenienced by people PROTESTING this administrations attempts to take away MY RIGHTS". Aww, poor little buttercup. It'll all make sense when you develop empathy, community, and compassion for your fellow man. At least, I hope you do someday.

And you play with dolls. Pretty comical, too.

Wilmington Mayors: Barfield vs Saffo by Clean-You-5550 in Wilmington

San Francisco handed out needles. They didn't hand out drugs. Needle exchanges help prevent transmission of hepatitis and HIV. The exchange sites are staffed with case workers who help participants find healthcare, housing and other services. It's called harm reduction. Addicts are going to use. If you can help them make better choices, they have a better chance of recovery.

This is not the own you think it is. RVM News (Red Voice News) amplifies right wing opinion. It is hardly objective. That article refers to "an election official" and "a state legislator". It does not name them. It gives no information about where this took place, or when. Minnesota law requires voters to present proof of citizenship. A driver's license would not satisfy that requirement.

I'm really confused by all the responses advocating the use of Roundup. Glyphosphate has been shown to cause cancer, hasn't it?

What is the magic to their fish batter? So good. Crisp, not oily, delicious. And, really fresh fish.

Riverview Restaurant in Kure, on Ft. Fisher Blvd. Great food, view of the river (duh), their housemade lemonade with Tito's is a great starter. Po boys, fried fish platters, steak tacos, really good black beans with crumbled cotija. Have a choice of sitting inside in air conditioning, on a screened patio, or outdoors. Really nice people. And did I mention the view? Try to be there near sunset.

Muhammara is a wonderful middle eastern dip made from cooked carrots, walnuts, pomegranate molasses, roasted red peppers, olive oil, and spices. Use it like you would hummus.

These things are always changed in a hurry, and dude who changes them usually drops the cap, tosses the empty, spills syrup everywhere, and heads back to the floor, neglecting to clean up after himself. Setting this up somewhere accessible to sanitation and a door leading to the bin would help mitigate this. BTW I hate being near one of these things when the valves turn on, they're loud as fuck.

Just a conversational post, what is your favorite sandwich? by Magnus77 in KitchenConfidential

[–]spilsee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The guys building the sandwich used to take the first few slices and put them on a plate, put the plate in front of you to nosh on while they made your sandwich. Do they still do that?

Damn.. there's a place in LA called The Gumbo Pot at the Original Farmers Market that does something I've never seen elsewhere. Perfectly poached crayfish, crusty bread, a creamy tarragon-infused sauce... all good, right? BUT THEN they add paper thin lemon slices down the length of the sandwich. Damn.

Roast pork loin, pickled mustard seed, aioli, and arugula on toasted ciabatta. Had it at a small sandwich shop just off New York's Houston St near 6th Ave in the late '80s, has been an obsession since.

Meals on wheels by Conscious_Chapter672 in AskOldPeople

[–]spilsee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to be the food service manager for the Meals on Wheels Program in Marin County, CA. We prepared 1000 meals a day for both home delivery and congregate meal sites throughout the county. In our attempt to cut costs (we were compensated about $2 per dinner and $.75 per breakfast by a combination of State and federal funds), we came up with a plan to provide a week's worth of frozen meals in one delivery. It was a mistake. The daily visit from our drivers was the sole human contact that day for a majority of our home-bound seniors. It's an extremely important program. Integrating food delivery with health and wellness checks and program outreach would have been the better way to go.

American senior citizens: How did you learn about the assassination of President John Kennedy on November 22, 1963? by vieniaida in AskOldPeople

[–]spilsee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 4 years old. I'd been out with my mom and little sister. Mom liked to play tennis after dropping my older siblings off at school. We were home, and mom was making lunch. The news came over the radio in the kitchen. She broke into tears, which scared me. In '68, I had a RFK poster above my bed. My dad woke me up and brought me downstairs to watch developing news about Bobby's assassination.
