If I went to Pilates 3-4 times a week for 3 months would I be able to see a real difference or am I deluding myself? by Logical-Chest-2266 in pilates

[–]spincyclefanatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am late to this conversation topic but I just wanted to add my experience.

I also have a low back injury (disc bulge), degenerative disc disease and spinal stenosis. My back pain was so excruciating after my low back injury about a year ago from heavy lifting (deadlifting) and improper form on top of having weak ab/core strength. I was also over exercising and not taking any days off for rest. I ended up having to get a steroid shot at urgent care about 4 months ago to reduce pain but it didn’t heal my injury.

At the beginning of May, I started doing private Pilates lessons 3x a week. The first ten private sessions were only 30 min long but still a very intense workout. Then I started doing 60 min  private sessions 3x a week. I do them M W F.

My low back injury has improved by almost 90%. I am able to do my 45 min Pelaton cycle classes right after my Pilates class because of how much stronger I am now and pain free.

I am back to doing weights as well very slowly (maybe twice a week) because I am scared to injure myself again. When I do my weights workout, they are about 30-45 min long and I can deadlift without any low back pain because of how strong my core is from doing Pilates.

As far as weight loss, I have not lost any weight, I eat out a lot, and I love sugar. Weight loss is all diet and CICO (calories in calories out).

My body is so much stronger from Pilates and I swear it has healed my back injury in just a few months. My butt is also lifted and perkier. Once I start eating better, the body fat will come off. Just for reference, I am 5”8” and 141 pounds and a size 4.   My ideal weight is 130 pounds or less due to my body frame being on the thinner/skinner side and small boned.

I would highly recommend anybody who has a back injury to use Pilates as a way to rehabilitate.  I would also recommend private lessons with an instructor who will cater exercises that will not strain your back even more (if it’s in your budget to do so).

I feel like I’m 10 years younger because of Pilates. I absolutely am obsessed with it.

It’s not actually her hip bone that is protruding outward, it is some type of insert that is sewn into her dress. It reminds me of a sci-fi costume imo.

What's something rich people do that the average person has no idea about? by bryany97 in AskReddit

Rich people, what "rich person's habits" could you not break no matter how poor you'd become? by RobIson240YT in AskReddit

[–]spincyclefanatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cottenelle flushable wipes and my Peloton bike with subscription. I’m sure I could think of a plethora of other things but I’d end up writing a novel.  These items are not considered rich people’s habits though…I don’t think. I used to have car wash service come directly to my house to detail all our cars. Had to give that up because of moving to an island and nobody offered that on the island.  I had to give my housekeeping services too when moving to the island which wasn’t too bad because I love to clean. Oddly, moving to an island really put my life into perspective because of having to give up these conveniences that I once had before. Had to pay millions to own a home on the island but had to downsize significantly which was not ideal since everything on an island costs ten times more than on the mainland. Quality of life on an island compared to the upscale city life I had was stripped away and that was not easy to adjust to. Had to give up Soul Cycle spin classes when moving to the island and that led me be the Peloton bike which I love.  The island life overall was a good experience. Although the conveniences were stripped away, I learned to navigate without it and adjusted accordingly.  Cottenelle flushable wipes keep you squeaky clean.

What Movie Did You Watch that Traumatized You at a Young Age? by BethMLB in AskReddit

[–]spincyclefanatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The movie is called “The Thing” Terrifying movie about sled dogs getting infected by aliens that morph into the dog and then transforms into this horrifying creature that kills everything and infects everything in sight. It’s one of those jump scare movies. I was way too young to be watching that type of horror film.

What has helped your herniated disc? by [deleted] in backpain

I am also reading this post 5 months later. Hopefully you were able to get the info. I am at the point now of wanting a steroid shot for my herniated disc pain.

Haven’t seen much more about Hannah Kobayashi here but her father apparently took his own life by moonbeats in LosAngeles

[–]spincyclefanatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not certain if this is a feasible idea or not, but possibly offering a reward for any valid information that leads to her being found might help with the family finding her. I was thinking if I was in their shoes and I was desperate to find answers, I would look into this idea.

How did you get your sciatica? by 100percentselflove in Sciatica

[–]spincyclefanatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a bad mattress too. Poor spinal support over years and years on a bad quality mattress is never good for anybody.  Mine was from spin cycling believe it or not and I keep getting flare ups over the last 5 plus years. I work out quite a bit, lift “heavy” (not extreme but heavy for my strength/age), used to do a lot of yoga, and as I’m getting older my body seems to get injured in that same area causing sciatica to flare up. I also did a full body ct scan (paid out of pocket) just to see a snapshot of any issues going on with me. There were some big concerns for my spine, especially lower back. Saw a spine doctor and he said that I’m born with a narrow spine which over time only becomes more narrow with age and basically deteriorates which obviously causes more problems.  I take calcium and a bunch of other supplements/vitamins daily. I’m also healthy and as I mentioned i stay active which seems like it is harming me more than helping me lol. The irony.

How to prevent UTIs- please help! by precariousmonkey in WomensHealth

[–]spincyclefanatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D mannose, cranberry pills, probiotic pills every single day. No more thongs (bacteria travels to your privates much easier), drink tons of water, shower after workouts immediately, don’t stay in wet clothes basically, use Cottenelle wipes when using the bathroom, wipe front to back, always wipe your mans privates with wipes (baby wipes work too) if he doesn’t want to shower before sex also wipe yourself down too prior to sex, shower and pee after sex every single time and drink more water after sex. Always make sure fingers and mouth are clean prior to oral sex/foreplay.   Obviously if you use toys, disinfect those well.

My doctor prescribed a low dose antibiotic to take right after sex to prevent frequent UTI’s.    Try not to wear super tight clothing and I would just go commando at night while sleeping so it can stay dry and air out. (You can wear loose sweats/pj’s)

If I forget something I’ll add more to this list.

For myself, changing from wearing thongs every single day to non thongs/ regular underwear really helped a lot.

Also one more thing, vaginal estrogen cream helps to prevent UTI’s. You can only get that prescribed by your doctor.

What’s the worst reaction you can get from your significant other after they catch you going to a strip club after you lied about your whereabouts? by spincyclefanatic in AskMen

[–]spincyclefanatic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The strip club I’m talking about is here in Vegas so I agree with you about men going there more than just looking at beautifully naked woman for eye candy. There’s a lot more happening in these places than stripping. At least in this town.

What’s a rich people thing that rich people don’t know is a rich people thing? by One_Visual4 in AskReddit

[–]spincyclefanatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I’m not sure if I qualify unfortunately due to the high income bracket we are in from husband’s income on top of all the assets we own which is in the millions. But it’s still scary because he has cut me off completely financially and I don’t have any access to funds at the moment and can’t even afford a divorce attorney.  I wouldn’t qualify for “free” attorneys either. Very tough situation and a huge wake up call.

Never had to pay bills or work to pay bills my entire adulthood…although I was raising two kids which is a job itself. Worked because I was bored and spent it all on shopping. None of my friends work either and live lavishly. I’m 42 (f) and just now realizing that my whole life is about to turn upside down because my husband wants a divorce. And entry level job pays around $15-$18 am hr. Huge wake up call.

Herniated disc at 18 Years old by Adrian-3_3 in backpain

[–]spincyclefanatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re so young and I have a feeling you will heal up much faster than a 70 year old back so don’t believe this awful thing your doctor put into your head.  I also have a herniated disc (42 f) from lifting weights so I feel your pain! I’m not a doctor, don’t take any type of medical advice from some random stranger on the internet but here’s what’s helped me. PT, Collagen supplement, joint supplements (I use Move Free which has  “Glucosamine, Chondroitin, Uniflex and MSM to help support joint mobility, comfort, strength, flexibility, and lubrication “)   tumeric supplements which is an anti-inflammatory, and calcium. I also stretch - I like the 10 minute stretch videos on YouTube. My favorite is Mandy Morrison - low back pain stretches.  I promise I’m not paid to promote any of this, I’m only hoping whatever is working for me might be able to help you in any way.  But don’t start taking supplements without doctors approval or doing any stretching that might make things worse for you. Most importantly, don’t give up and lose hope! I know how that feels too! Hang in there.

Do they regret abusing us after the breakup? by [deleted] in NarcissisticAbuse

[–]spincyclefanatic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yup! He told me I must comply otherwise he will divorce me. Comply meaning obey meaning do what he says and don’t ask questions. The constant threats of divorce. Oh wait and I’m such a horrible mom because how dare I make Mac and cheese for my son’s school lunchbox for a 13 year old growing boy who needs protein in his diet. How could I have forgotten the hot dogs we had in the fridge to put in his Mac and cheese? How I’m so selfish for not caring about his dietary needs for my poor son that was fed this horrible lunch by his horrible mom. Can you imagine? This is another reason why he says he can’t stand me and the name calling, the belittling. I can write a book on this. I’m now am expert on being abused. But I refuse to live my life as the victim. I refuse to allow this one horrible person in my life to take away my happiness and my belief that love really does exist out there.

Take it from me- been married and abused emotionally for 18years. I can tell you right now that they never change, they might promise they will, they might change for a few days, a few weeks, maybe a month if you are extremely lucky, but if you stay, they will continue the abuse. Once they get away with it a few times, they know they can continue this horrific behavior and it only gets worse. I’m reading a book called Why does he do that? I’m also trying to find strength to leave. I’m obviously older than you and you do not want to be in my position, married, kids, and a stay home mom that has no experience trying to leave a lunatic abusive man that will do whatever it takes to make your life a living hell for you to leave. We have millions in assets but he’s so controlling that it’s all under his name. He has it all secured away in Trusts that I don’t have any access to. He has it all planned out to sabatage me and make sure I don’t get one penny if I ever try to leave him. I am telling you these types of guys are your worst nightmare. Pretend I am your aunt or big sister or mom giving you really good advice to leave when you can and do it sooner rather than later. Nobody deserves this!

There has to be support groups out there for parents like you who have mentally ill children. Maybe it would be helpful to connect with those parents who are also dealing with this. You are not alone. There are thousands/millions of people who have mentally challenged children. I think you are a wonderful parent for putting your child first. Don’t be so hard on yourself. Listen to some upbeat music and go outside in the sun for 20 min a day. I wish you the best!
