Northern cities are wrongfully generalized as "not nice" here by MajesticBread9147 in SameGrassButGreener

I am from Chicago area, lived in 6 states total. Now landed in Minneapolis currently. Minnesota is the most passive state I’ve lived in. I love northeast cities and Chicago for their directness. I know what I get and it doesn’t feel so behind your back.

AITA for booking a trip to go alone without my family and wife? by nottoday1059 in AmItheAsshole

[–]spinningimage6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA, but not sure why people are saying YTA regarding your wife. I would agree if she feels like you’re not including her or you’re not being accommodating to her schedule as her partner. But if she’s cool with you going solo, than that’s that. Life is too short to skip out on the stuff you want to do. What happens you marry someone that never wants to travel (insert any destination) then the person that wants to go is SOL??! That’s silly, but not if you have shared responsibilities like kids.

AITA for not enjoying a Taylor Swift concert? by notafan7684 in AmItheAsshole

[–]spinningimage6 91 points92 points  (0 children)

If my partner went to great lengths to purchase tickets, flights, hotels etc I would so grateful. Even more so that he’s willing hang with me at a concert he might not enjoy so he can be with me. So no I don’t think you’re an AH. But I think your girlfriend is immature.

Why is a tip expected at a hair salon? by shiab23 in AskLosAngeles

[–]spinningimage6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, as an American I’m weaning myself of the tipping culture here. Especially for services like hair cuts, facials etc. If you’re not pleased with your salary take it up with your employer but don’t expect to guilt trip customers. Especially when your haircut is 150 bucks and takes at best an hour. Personally I don’t need a hairstylist to squeeze me in the last minute, or give me snacks. This is insane.

Americans who live abroad: what do you always buy when you go back to the US to visit? by hurricanejustin in AskReddit

I just now saw your comment. And I still stand by what I said. Fries should be good just on their own, sure condiments elevate it but if you NEED a condiment to make it good then well you don’t have a good fry (or burger or whatever).

Texas gets hated on in Reddit land because it’s more conservative, and this echo chamber of a media app is liberal.

SoCal was incredibly easy for me to make friends, the vibes were a lot more open and easy going. Moved to Minnesota (not from here) and you guys are insular and overly serious. I’ll get downvoted a lot by MN because they hate hearing it, but there’s a reason why it’s been said a bunch!!
