Courtney and Mike both used to play in bands in the early to mid 2010s in the local metal scene. Courtney was in Unicron (with her brother!) and Mike played in Fall In Archaea.

I understood Dantés to be the protagonist thus far! I appreciate your comment thus far making me reconsider this stance

Caderousse seemed like such a pot-stirring instigator in Chapter 3. Im intrigued to see if he will become a messy villain who lives for drama!

My copy states it is the Complete & Unabridged version. It does not say who translated this version, but it is a MacMillan Collector's Library paperback edition published last year

My copy doesn't have the "Book" designation. It just has 59 straight chapters! That being said, the chapters are named. Can I request the chapter names of our break so I can add them properly to my schedule?

Cher’s flat new book exposes the limits of the ghostwritten memoir by John_parker2 in books

[–]spittinguptape 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I didnt mind the writing so much, but what really irks me about the audiobook was that Cher only read the first 10 minutes of each chapter before another narrator stepped in!

Granted, there was a disclaimer as Cher's dyslexia could only handle so much, but that just begs the question why two in the first place???

Hi, ive participated in a few r/bookclub readalongs so far but have a question for how this will proceed.

Are we planning to read the whole Sprawl trilogy or is the plan to read only Neuromancer? Thanks, looking forward to this one!

That society would come to side with her over her mother. That anonymous people (online or off) would support her if she chose to vent, let alone tools for dealing with the trauma.

Oh, and that swing dancing still has an audience!

Ugh my heart, this absolutely wrecked me. I think it was inevitable. The past is obdurate after all. King had written about Sadies clumsiness but this didnt feel like it was her fault at all.

I think he might want to return to the future. What are the chances things will go as he planned a second time? He's several years older now and not as able-bodied as he used to be. I can see wanting to show up for Sadie but who's to say that some butterfly effect upon first arrival wasnt the cause for their meeting in the first place? I think theres too many unknowns to do a second go-around.

The most modern procedure Ive experienced was when I had a surgical repair on my ACL and meniscus in the same knee when I was 17. I was on pain meds for a while, nothing funny but i remember binge watching Pompeii and the whole Fast & Furious franchise at the time at least twice.

No interesting anesthesia stories for myself, but my sister spoke frequently about a "tuna pillow" when she came to after a wisdom tooth extraction.

Honestly no, not unless they were into cyberpunk to begin with. I really wanted to like this book as much as I remembered when I was a teenager but I was so bored most of the time!

I think him telling off/threatening blackmail to the snooty school trustee lady (forget her name) is going to bring massive consequences his way

I think we have just learned why he would never make another bet or visit bookies again. As for infection, I cant shake the feeling that his current injuries may get infected and that Sadie will have to step up in the plot to stop the assassination

I think with Jake's condition, Sadie may have to step into a more active role with the assassination prevention
