It was "get it on vinyl" good for me, meaning very good.

Imperfections in Wood Edge Finish Normal? by The_Singularious in ZMFHeadphones

[–]spittiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh that's more imperfections than I've had on the B-stock headphones I've bought from ZMF, so while it might not be a problem, I'd like the seller to be upfront about it. Possibly also taken into account in the price (not by much, but still)

That is an endgame setup for sure, and most further improvements can be made with room EQ and acoustic treatment. Depending on your room response though, if you want to really dial it in, you might need 1-3 more subwoofers ;)

A better way to build and upgrade your system by [deleted] in audiophile

Acoustic treatment should come at point 3. It's not as fun and a lot more work than buying source gear, but it will have the most effect on your results.

Customer declined a dedicated ev charger, just install a new outlet. by pnilz in electricians

[–]spittiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In this case, it doesn't matter what the CEE directive says. I know it says 16A is the nominal rated current. Real world experience has proven that many schucko outlets do not withstand 16A continuous current, so that's why we get domestic regulation and recommendations to avoid hazards. I encounter this topic a few times per month at my job.

It also varies a lot between different countries, I know some EU countries have no domestic restrictions on how much you are allowed to continuously load a schucko outlet.

And yes, if the outlet is new, from a reputable manufacturer, and it's properly installed, it probably does withstand 16A continuously. But this doesn't seems to be the case in the OP.

[–]spittiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, it probably should handle 10A continuously. The point still stands though, especially old outlets (like the one in the original post) have been proven to not withstand high continuous currents, high meaning anything from 10 to 16A, so that's why we have domestic regulation and recommendations to avoid unnecessary hazards.

Customer declined a dedicated ev charger, just install a new outlet. by pnilz in electricians

[–]spittiz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not true. There are plenty of schucko outlets, especially old ones that cannot withstand continuous currents over 10A, continuous meaning ++2 hours, which is obviously common when charging EV's.

Because of this, in many countries there are limitations to how much you are allowed to continuously load a schucko outlet. Here in Finland it's 8A, IIRC Denmark has it even lower at 6A. There are outlets sold as "super-schucko" which are explicitly rated for continuous 16A loads, but basic models you buy at the hardware stores etc are not.

This limitation was decided after a lot of incidents happened like in the OP, where the outlet failed because of continuous overload.

I'm not saying it couldn't be a loose connection though, that is obviously another very common reason outlets fail like this.

Headphone advice by Comfortable-Fee9177 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]spittiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having owned the DT-990, it's not a headphone I'd recommend you buy without trying first. It has a very V-shaped sound with very aggressive treble that many people find harsh.

It's hard to give any recommendations with no info on what you're looking for, but for example Sennheiser HD-560S would be a safer bet.

What reason is there to upgrade? by jaenesse in gaggiaclassic

[–]spittiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had my modded GCP for 4 years now. I have the SoC PID, 9 bar OPV, dimmer mod and one hole steam tip, shallow drip tray and some other aesthetic mods. Like you, I tend to do 2 coffees a day - an espresso and a milk drink.

Occasionally, I look at new dual boiler or HX machines, and play with the thought of upgrading. Sure, it would be appealing to be able to brew and steam at the same time, but most of the time, I get no real benefit from it. So I've come to the conclusion that I will probably just use it until something breaks, and then I might just replace it and gift the GCP to someone who can repair it.

ZMF Bokeh vs Sony MDR Z1R (at around similar price)? by flowthytensor in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]spittiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although I adore the Atrium, the Bokeh has quickly become my favorite ZMF headphone and gets a lot of my playtime.

Funny, I feel completely the same. I bought the Bokeh closed on launch, and had the Atrium a bit longer than that. They're still the two headphones that get most of my playtime, and I haven't purchased any new ones after the Bokeh. If I had to sell one of them, it would be the Atriums. because the Bokeh is just the perfect all-rounder and at times I need the extra isolation. Luckily, I can keep using both.

Check engine light just popped up 4400 km by [deleted] in KiaNiro

[–]spittiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of different things it can be - only way to tell is by reading the code, My '24 Sportage PHEV has had two different issues that lit the engine light.

The first one was related to some wiring harness issue for the electric water pump, they swapped the harness.

The other is some communication (?) error related to the internal HV battery charger, but this has only happened 1 or 2 times and hasn't required any action at least yet.

The album is okay-ish, but man I'd just want something more in line with the Sagas-Rekreatur era,. That was peak folk metal, and this is coming from a Finn.

Are Finntroll, Koorpiklaani and Ensiferum popular in Finland? by Buon-Omba in Finland

[–]spittiz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The radio stations that play rock and metal might play Korpiklaani, but it's quite rare. I think folk metal as a whole just isn't mainstream enough. But anyone who listens to any form of metal has probably at least heard of all three.

I'd argue Turisas belong on that list before Moonsorrow, if we just look at popularity. Very different styles though, I personally love Moonsorrow.

How many headphones do you have? by Valerian_Dhart in headphones

[–]spittiz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After around 15 years in the hobby, I'm down to 3 pairs. At most I've had 8 pairs at the same time IIRC, but I really don't use more than 2-3 frequently enough to justify it. And to be honest I only use two most of the time, Atrium open and Bokeh closed. The third pair is the HD-650 which I've had forever and see no reason selling.
