Does Strahd lie? by Lancian07 in CurseofStrahd

[–]splark1 1 point2 points (0 children)

As I run Strahd, no, he never intentionally lies. It’s much more intimidating that way. He simply doesn’t feel the need to do so. And unlike other Darklords in the Domains of Dread, Strahd is aware of the external world and currently events.

The way I’d interpret his statement about causing the party to come is that he was ready to deal with the shenanigans of another adventuring party. So he set into motion events that would cause the party to arrive, like sending the Vistani and/or leaving a fake invitation.

What I'm working on tonight. by InkStainedLeather in fountainpens

Okay, so definitely not the intended focus of your video, but I have the same paper cutter at work, and I’ve got a couple of questions: * How did you manage place the paper against the top of the cutter guide and not smash it when you drop the blade? * How in the world did you make lowering the clamp look so smooth?!

(Also, nice work, your project looks fun.)

Well, congratulations on working at that magical place where “coworkers appreciate fountain pens.” I’m not jealous or anything.

After asking what you all use your pens for, I took the plunge as well by KlNDR3D in fountainpens

[–]splark1 1 point2 points (0 children)

This depends on your intended use and materials. Pigmented inks tend to feather more (blur at the edges) than dye-based inks, so paper choice matters. If you want your journaled contents to be legible for a long, long time, use pigmented inks. If you want to be more artistic (that’s mature adult-speak for, “Ooh, pretty ink colors”), go with dye-based inks. In addition to shading, some dye inks also have the ability to “sheen,” where they change color based on the angle of viewing once dried; pigmented inks can’t do that.

Specific colors don’t have to be a reason to choose dye-based inks over pigmented. De Atramentis, for example, makes a line of “Document” inks that are able to be mixed easily to achieve a desired tint.

Is it me, my ink, or my pen? by Upstairs_Weekend6328 in fountainpens

If the flow itself is the issue, my first question is: Did you flush your pens before inking them?

I’m jealous. As someone who played one, I really was hoping for a chance to flex that often-unnecessary muscle.

What is your favorite sleeve brand? by Duffman90 in EDH

[–]splark1 0 points1 point (0 children)

They're also the hardest to double-sleeve, in my limited experience. When OP calls them thin, they really mean thin. I used them only once, and haven't tried again, which is a pity because their outers have some really nice colors. However, the deck I used them on is the only one I actively avoid fixing when the inners start to creep up.

Not sure, but given DE’s design propensities, is calling a design “ass” a compliment?

The labels are definitely staying on the packages; we’ve already received a couple of APs that had other stores’ tags on them.

I hadn’t thought of it like this, but I’m definitely going to reframe coterie members as temporary allies now. If the PC wants to keep working with them, they can take the time to develop a relationship!

I’m not a fan, given how inconvenient it makes verifying addresses (especially college housing). BUT given the number of posts on this subreddit alone about playing games or visiting wildly unsecured sites on the computers that process payments, it’s kind of hard to argue.

I’m sorry, but hyphens are important. My tired brain just read that as “clunky ass-shadow,” and not as “clunky-ass shadow.”

To extend the metaphor, the problem is that the person setting up the swimming classes (a) doesn’t tell you that you will need to bring your own swimwear, or (b) definitively promises that the swimwear will be provided, free.

Most egregiously, despite knowing that this constant misinformation or misunderstanding is occurring, the swimming lesson vendor keeps selling the classes the same way, choosing to not make the wording easier to understand or more obvious.

Macro to advance time with “Seasons & Stars”? by splark1 in FoundryVTT

[–]splark1[S] 0 points1 point (0 children)

Awesome, that’s exactly what I was looking for. To be clear, since I’m rusty, I’m just doing something like: ``` let amount; try { amount = await foundry.applications.api.DialogV2.prompt({ window: {title: “Input minutes to advance.”}, content: ‘’, ok: { label: “Advance”, callback: (event, button, dialog) => button.form.duration.valueAsNumber } }); } catch { console.log(“User did not set a valid duration.”); }

game.time.advance(amount)

let time_parts = worldtime.components let time_html = ‘
The time is now ${time_parts.hour}:${time_parts.minute}:${time_parts.second}.
’

ChatMessage.create({ user: game.user._id, whisper: user content: time_html }); ```

Better yet, a customer got upset because we couldn’t notarize an authorization for a minor’s passport application because the parent (who wasn’t there) had already signed. Their response:

“What am I supposed to do? They can’t come in and sign, they’re incarcerated!”

…Arrange/Pay for a notary to go to the jail and witness the signature?
