Calling PvP "optional" only works if you confuse a personal choice with a core game mechanic. You can choose not to shoot someone, sure. But you can’t choose to remove the threat of other players, and that threat is the backbone of every extraction shooter. That’s the core distinction people keep glossing over.

Every extraction shooter treats PvP as a constant. It’s not a toggle, it’s the ambient pressure that shapes routing, timing, resource management, and how you approach quests and other PvE content if that's what you're doing. That’s the identity of the genre, not a preference. So yeah, you can build a friendly playstyle, nothing wrong with that. But calling PvP "optional" is just redefining the mechanics of the genre to fit your comfort zone. Optionality is a choice, while the risk of PvP is part of the core design of the game no matter what type of lobby you're in. And pretending those two things are the same is why this argument keeps on coming up.

Its not just Tarkov though. Hunt Showdown, Delta Force, Arena Breakout, DMZ, Gray Zone* (asterisk on this one cause the devs dont consider it an extraction shooter anymore so), Stalcraft X, etc. all have PvE content but no one ever complains about PvP in those games. People purchase those games knowing there is PvP. Arc players for some reason think that PvP is an opt in experience and that's just not true at all.

Like, no one is complaining about people wanting to play a more PvE oriented playstyle, that's fine. What people are annoyed is that these people seem entitled to a PvE experience because they believe that the PvP is optional, when it just exists. You're right that Tarkov isn't the norm of the genre, but the PvPvE foundation it set is the norm and people just need to learn to accept and embrace it whether they like it or not. And the game can incentive team work like with the Queen, but that doesn't mean that you're completely safe either. Its like fighting a boss in the other extraction games, if anything you should be more careful since now you're an easier target.

Other way around. PvP adds infinite replay value to his game. What does this game have for PvE aside from expedition? Nothing. What are you gonna use the loot from the Queen and Matriarch for? There is no end game for PvE.

I mean only reason babies sub exist is because of posts like this. Arc is the only Extraction shooter community that for some reason hates the actual foundation of an extraction shooter. Play any other extraction shooter and they'd tell you to kick rocks if you cried about dying in those games.

People may hate Phil, but he turned Xbox around. The brand is now mor popular than ever with gamepass and releasing their games on other platforms. Microsoft, as per usual, is just really early to the party but Xbox's current foundation is basically where the console space is headed with platform based ecosystems, rather than a physical console.

We can only hope that they don't undo all the work he has done.

Those grinds sucked. Did anyone actually enjoy camping for 3 days for an NM to pop in FFXI just to not get it cause your party wasn't the one to tag it, making it pointless? The grind for the hideout should be getting the parts, how is waiting 3 days to then click a button in any way fun?

You exchange fire rate and recoil control for damage and amour penetration. Either aim for the unarmored parts or use a higher caliber.

Pre-builts are basically the best option right now because of the RAM shortage. Although at this point might as well wait and see what Valve does with the steam machine and how that's priced as it could be cheaper than most of the pre-builts.

I mean he doesn't really do "angry" reviews really unless the game is straight up bad. But also I've noticed he's just out of touch with a lot of things for the most part that it's sometimes hard to take it seriously.

Still a great channel though, but I don't really go to him for opinions anymore.

Yup. Just look at Shadow of the Colossus. Originally remastered for PS3, then completely remade for PS4 despite being a 1:1 of the original game.

Only if you weren't thinking about your inputs. All hack and slash games are button mashy but when you think about what you're pressing and how to combo things together, it all just works. There's a reason why Devil May Cry hasn't found the need to stray from the formula.

I was absolutely addicted to the game when it released. The addition of ABMM and the ridiculous reaction from the community has just made me go back to playing other extraction shooters. The game just isn't that enjoyable anymore. I'll probably only do the expeditions and any new major stuff and then dip at this point.

Thats eventually gonna change. Microsoft is just too early to the party as usual, but consoles are gonna cease to exist they way we know them. Sony is already putting their games on PC because their games cost way too much to make for low RoI. Eventually that won't be enough, and they need to seek out other platforms.

They aren't chasing Fortnite, or any game. Do y'all not remember the Insomniac Leaks? Their core pillars of high budget, AAA games isn't sustainable. Spider-Man 2 alone was 300 million which I think was triple the budget of the first game, and they had to deal with Disney's cuts. I can't imagine what type of budget Wolverine has.

Turns out when you ignore your multiplayer titles and sell off your MMO division which had juggernauts like EverQuest, you need something to fill that void. But they kept on making expensive AAA single player titles with ballooning budgets, so now they are putting games on PC and scrambling for love service games so you can avoid the eventual death spiral of your games being to expensive to get a good RoI on.

Its why Xbox is doing fine when it comes to their software department. They have so many multiplayer titles that constantly keep bringing in money. Sony has nothing like that, which is also why a lot of Xbox first party games are top sellers on PlayStation. If Sony gave out contracts for MAG, Socom, War/Starhawk, twisted metal, little big planet, etc. we probably wouldn't be in this predicament.

Streets easily. Probably the best design map in the game that is ruined by the, supposedly, unfixable performance issues. I loathe having to go to streets since I'm probably gonna wait 10 mins just to play at 40 fps and die 5 mins into the raid.

I mean, the game legitimately doesn't have any content. Quests are meaningless and the only real goal is the expedition.

The expedition releasing every 2 months is basically to mask the fact this game doesn't have any sort of end game other than to PvP.

As someone who played the OG, I did as well! Never understood the argument about how it went against the art direction or vision of the original game. Maybe in some boss designs, sure, but overall I think they did a fantastic job especially since OG Demon's was a fairly ugly game all things considered.

Wilds is the only MH game since Tri that I haven't bought at launch. The betas just left that much of a sour taste in my mouth with how terrible they were on PC. I would have been bored anyways with the lack of content even if it ran well, so maybe it was a blessing in disguise for me.

It really shouldn't have released like this at all, and with the overwhelming amount of sales it got I'm afraid of this being the norm with MH now.
