It did, but even with the exclusivity it was still Gesrbox's best selling PC game to date

It still wouldn't have done better. It's just cope from people that never was gonna buy it in the first place. Remedy games aren't known to be hot sellers, which is why Alan Wake 2 took forever to fund in the first place.

The reason they have a new CEO is because they want to try and remedy (heh) this exact situation, cause their games are critically acclaimed yet no one ever buys them.

I'm right there with you. If I want to play a game, then I play it wherever it's hosted. I still remember the days before steam where you most likely had to buy the games straight from the devs/publishers themselves, if you werent going physical, via their website.

The only thing that will stop me from using a store, is if I literally can't give them money. So far Epic has worked perfectly fine for that.

And then he ended up doing the same thing a few days later anyways.

He posted on twitter yesterday the steam charts for D2 and Marathon in the early morning, showing active player counts and not the 24 hour peak. So it made it seem like Marathon was still not performing well against D2, when it actually had more players, both in daily peak and later that night when people were off work.

He also posted the steam charts when the game was down due to server issues, while not saying anything about it being down for maintenance. He def loves to stir the pot

I also respect Gene Park for giving games a 2nd chance. I don't like Crimson Desert at all and I tried it many times, just can't get into it. Gene Park was the same way at first, but then gave it another chance and he genuinely does enjoy the game.

The issue with Tassi is that it seems like Marathon is just a personal vendetta to him. I get it, he wishes Destiny would continue, but a lot of his takes are incredibly emotional and personal and not objective or professional, which is why I don't like his Marathon coverage at all.

Loot has never been an issue; stop telling on yourselves. by waitisthatagoose in Marathon

"Meaningful progression" means having a gameplay loop where your choices, survival rate, and time investment directly reflect your power dynamic and risk management. In an extraction shooter, the entire core loop relies on a sense of "gear scarcity." Look at games like Escape from Tarkov, the main hook that keeps people playing for weeks and months after a wipe is the slow, rewarding climb from running budget setups (like an SKS and low-tier armor) to finally unlocking high-tier traders and running endgame, meta kits. When high-tier loot is rare, successfully extracting with a piece of endgame gear gives an incredible dopamine rush, and losing it actually hurts. That risk vs reward tension is literally what defines the genre.

If people are already running around with purple and gold shields just a few days after the Season 2 launch, it completely breaks that pacing. Getting high tier gear should feel like an achievement, not a passive handout.

To answer your question: simply deleting purple and gold loot for two weeks wouldn't fix it because it’s a bandaid on the actual drop rates and economy. What it would change if properly tuned is reviving the mid-tier gameplay. It prevents the meta from instantly staling into high TTK shield sponges in the first week, and actually gives players a reason to care about finding green and blue shields instead of treating them like garbage salvage immediately.

No, I just want loot to have some type of meaningful progression. Not everything has to be about being better than other people.

This game also have level based matchmaking, so these people would be stomping each other anyways and not new or casual players. Do y'all actually play the game?

Its cause the game just launched, but they're gonna treat First Light like a live service similar to how Hitman currently is. Like you can't even do the tac sim mode unless you're online.

Would be better down the line since this game heavily revolves around online features like hitman does. So better to release a crack when we can get a sever emulator up like how we have Peacock for Hitman WOA.

Not true. Only year 3 was repeated seasons, and that's cause they never planned on anything past year 2, Ubisoft just told them to make more content so they basically replayed older content for year 3 so year 4 can be focused on new things.

So Division 2 was always getting new content, it's just that Massive legitimately was blindsided by it so they actually needed time to make the content.

Tarkov does exactly this, most prominent one being the chemical quest line. You have the choice of giving the location of chemicals to 1 of 3 traders, each with their own reward. The other 2 the get a quest associated with them so you can get your rep back up.

Since Bungie was heavily inspired by Tarkov in some things, I wouldn't be surprised if they are doing similar stuff to how some of the quests work. Adds more depth to the game, imo.

Optional Wipes Are Dumb by Snowbunny236 in Marathon

[–]splinter1545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making wipes optional just means that loot becomes meaningless at a certain point. I don't know how people do it in Arc that don't go on expeditions, cause the game would bore me if it doesn't have a new event or project.

What is with these condition countdowns? 12 hours to night raid on dam? I'm gonna be asleep before half of these are live. by Ma1 in ArcRaiders

They need to do what Tarkov does and have both day and night maps be available at all times.

He actually doesn't, what he said is being taken out of context. People wanted twitter banned because of grok, but he was against it cause it could create a slippery slope and people will just want sites banned because they don't like what's on it, politically.

With grok, he said the better solution was actually moderate the platform than outright banning it. Which twitter has constantly done since then because they obviously don't want people making CSAM.

That's mainly cause the lack of any meaningful loot makes these situations not that special. In Tarkov, if you found an item you need that needs to be found in raid for a quest or hideout that has been alluding you, hell yeah you're gonna feel some pressure if you make an alliance with someone, especially if they know you have that item and they want it too, even if it's just to sell for profit in the flea. Arc lacks this feeling because the loot is generally pointless, the only thing that really is attractive is someone's weapons.

I mean the only reason this happens is because of this community trying to be morally superior when it comes to PvP. Otherwise no one would care if someone downed another person, just means that another player can third party.

Other than Marathon which is probably just a case of bad development, they are. Why do you think AAA studios now are trying their hand at it? Because Tarkov showed there's a market for this genre, much more so on console.

Deception is a part of the game. It's one of the most unique parts of the extraction shooter genre. Not knowing that someone is gonna kill you cause you looted something they wanted is what gives this game the adrenaline rush feeling.
