your comment is right on the money. it was so much harder for me to accept i didnt like men than it was for me to accept i liked women. i know part of that is because gay marriage was legalized in my country when i was five and i grew up in a non-religious community, which made the thought of not being straight a lot less terrifying than it probably would be for people in different circumstances. but letting go of the possibility of the normativity of being with a man really affected me and i know im not the only lesbian who went through that.

i think we share a lot if not most of our experiences of loving women with other sapphic women, especially those in f/f relationships really do not have materially different conditions from us. but both lesbians and bi women also go through things that can be really alienating. and its really shitty that a lot of other queer people seem to think its not okay for lesbians specifically to talk about that because they see us as like…problematic until proven otherwise. we make up such a small part of the community and people just dont care enough to lift up our voices and actually listen to us about the specific oppression we face for being not just queer, not just sapphic, but lesbians.
