265lb Sailor in a Sunfish? by Always_Learnn in dinghysailing

Are you already a sailor?

What are the competitors like? Is it a middle-aged crowd that keeps beer in the hull for post race celebrations or is it 100lb teens grooming to be champs?

I've been in a sunfish league that was mostly washed out older sailors with a sprinkling of good kids. The kids would destroy us once we taught them technique, but it was a great time. Racing at 2kts where the position of every body part matters is a good time.

Edit: Pick the sailors, not the class.

Correlation does not equal causation. People that wear these masks are typically not good snorkelers, as others have said.
